seems to draw... Do we have anything for 34...e5?.>

I am showing three moves here <imag>. 34...e5, 34...Qa7 & 34...g5 all seem possible(in that order). Your right that e5 seems to draw. But if she decides to avoid this. I am focusing on 34...e5 as this seems most likely.

Ezzy: 33 Bf1 is one of those moves where you wait with 'baited breath' for a reply, which could mean a sure draw or a possible spectacular win.

That's going to be a tough decision.

40.Nxf7! seems to work.

*But there is 38...Ra3, 38...Qa7 and 38...Ra8 :(

lost in space: Proud to be member of this insightful team.

Can not provide a lot of analyzes for this game due to work load reasons.

I let run fritz 11 on this line over night:

32. Rxa8 Rxa8 33. Bf1 Ba4 34. Qa2 Ra7

So far (d=22) the evaluations are negative and I am curious how fritz sees the position at d=28 or higher.

Good night

More tomorrow.

I am looking at <32...Rxa8 33.h4>

Ezzy: After 33 Bf1 would she allow her bishop to be pinned on a4 and losing a tempo trying to defend against the pin. I somehow don't think she will.

It would be a dream for the team if she did though. The only reason I can see her doing that, is because it gives positive evaluations for black by the computer.

Will she be suspicious and check it thoroughly.

Nobody likes a pinned piece.

and the queen is well placed to threaten h4-h5.

seems to draw... Do we have anything for 34...e5?>

I tried to play out an entire game from this line last night. I had what <Ezzy> just posted as far as this: 34...e5 35.dxe5 Nxe5 36.Qf5 Nxf3 37.Qxf3, then I had 37...Ra5 38. Qxh5.

It is a long, grueling ending, where Black cannot advance the pawn due to king safety problems, and White is in total control. I think White has a chance; I wouldn't bail out of 33. Bf1 because of it.

Ok will do <imag>.

The wait would be too unbearable.

  imag: My line against e5:

32...Rxa8 33.Bf1 Bxf1 34.Kxf1 e5 35.dxe5 Nxe5 36.Qe4 Nd7 37.Qf5 Ra7 38.Qxh5 g6 39.Qg4 Nxc5 40.Nd2 Ra2 41.h4! Bc3 42.Ndc4 Qe7 43.Qc8 Kh7 44.h5

<+0.3 and increasing> but probably tons of improvements for Black on moves 40-43

  jepflast: <32...Rxa8 33.Bf1 Ba4>

Anyone working on this should be clear that (after the forced 34. Qa2) <34...Ra7> has been sufficiently analyzed already, with White likely winning; Black won't play it. <34...Qd8 35. Ra1 Nxc5 36. dxc5 Bxa1 37. Qxa1 Bb5> is the main line right now.

If you're working on <33. Rb1>, the current thinking is Black draws with 33. Rb1 Ra4 34. Qd1 Ra2 35. Bf1 Bxf1 36. Qxf1 e5 37. Qc4 Ra3 38. d5 Ra5 39. d6 Qa7 40. Nd2.

Lol. That would deserve a !! for Natalia. 33...Extension!!

Another week.... or 2 to find out whether there is a spectacular win, or whether she had seen the whole variation.

Both 37.Rd6 and 37.Nd2 are petering out, but maybe I haven't looked deep enough.

Yeah, Black seems to have a wide array of choices on move 36, and on move 34 for that matter. I'm afraid it's too complex to analyze this far in advance.

I'm hoping we find something interesting with <32...Rxa8 33. h4> or something else to compare against 33. Bf1.
