There is last year's memorial's link though.
I wonder why the 43rd cuban memorial wasn't put up on Cg.com this year. |

On the other hand, it is nice tha there are people in <chessgames.com> willing to follow local championships, often forgotten by the masses on the internet. In this particular case, despite the fact they barely have one player who has been over 2600, the field of this championship is fairly strong of a national tournament. In Latin America, only Cuba surpasses Argentina in this aspect.>> at least we have a link.

MI Anton Kovalyov (16 years old, whose country of origin is Ukraine and plays under the Argentine flag in FIDE) will participate. Participants besides Kavalyov are:
GM Rubén Felgaer (current champion), GM Fernando Peralta, GM Pablo Ricardi, MI Diego Flores, MI Damián Lemos (current Junior Panamerican champion ),MI Facundo Pierrot, MI Salvador Alonso, MI Facundo Quiroga, MFGuillermo Di Benedetto, Antonio Orsini y Leonardo Tristán. The tournament will take place until August 11th.

| May-02-09 | | Augalv: Maria Florencia Fernandez wins Argentine women championship Maria Florencia Fernandez (not rated according to FIDE and rated 2105 according to the Argentinian Chess Federation) is the surprising new female champion of Argentina. She won the competition ahead of many titled players, among which the Dresden Olympiad team member IM Carolina Lujan, WIM Elisa Maggiolo, WIM Marisa Zuriel, WFM Stefanie Amed, and WIM Sandra Malajovich. María Florencia Fernández did not lose a single game during the competition and won the title a full point ahead of the chasing pack. To make the championship even more surprising the second position went to yet another untitled player, Ayelen Martinez (15 years old, rated 1894), and the third place is WFM Maria De Los Angeles Plazaola (rated 2160).
