You do have to move if the police tell you to not gather on someone else's property, but there are no laws in the west about meeting with other peoples and disseminating political information and expressing one's opionions.> It's not all that clear cut really. During the G20 in Toronto, young protestors were arrested as they were in pyjamas sleeping in a gymnasium, amongst others. Sure they were released afterwards, without any charges ever being laid on them. But it would be easy for any media source in the world to gard that story and spin it horribly... they'd be right, but still. |

 | | HeMateMe: The real problem in some of the more autocratic governments is that the ruling regime will not allow individuals to form their own political parties. Or, the balloting is full of fraud, as is what happened in the last days of Slobo Milosevic in Yugoslavia. In the particular case of China, you simply can't start your own party there, and run for election to represent a group of people or area. If you do, you get locked up or sent into exile. That is the key difference between countries like China, Syria, Belarus, and the USA and England. |

There's no question that the ideal government is that formed by a benevolent and competent dictator, surrounded by a group of trusted aides who are close to the population and tuned to their needs. No time lost squabling and fighting. No need to obey the whims of the population who doesn't understand that what's best for them (free services, no taxes, strong education and health care) isn't something realist. No demagogy performed solely for the purpose of elections. However, if you do come across this benevolant dictator, please let me know. |

Well,what I said before is mainly about culture,like ancient Chinese culture,a general root of Chinese people that would sometimes reveal and affect the Chinese in a cultural way.But nowadays China has been already westernized to some extent,so democracy is likely to be demanded and advocated both by the crowd and the government.Just last month,I have heard our Premier Wen declaring in public that nothing would stop the road to democracy in China. And I have already posted some comments upon democracy on Yifan's page to <HeMateMe>:Yifan Hou One shall see that I'm not someone affirming that democracy is not as good as dicatorship,absolutely not,what I really affirm is that perhaps one should realize the diversity of culture in the world,and thus would not mistake other nations's realities and their diverse minds in a regretful way.Should one place oneself in that particular country,one would find many of the curious questions and doubts and accusations not very respectful.Well,if western world really care about a third world country where two parties are fighting or waging wars,would they still enter there and support one of them and send weapons suchlike?Indeed,it might sound helpful and justice,but do the western world really care why that country is split apart,why the people there fighting or what they really need,instead of just advocating democracy and neglecting all the culture and history over there?Isnt there a little possibility that those countries might meet democracy in some later days?Why the western world just demand them without any sense of local culture,history and time? Well,what I said is merely some personal view,and to be frank,it is because I come to note that a lot of western people are completely unaware of the other parts of the world in a cultural way so that I write these posts in a fashion that perhaps sounds a little biased.
Anyway I hope this would be my last comment upon these issues here,after all it is chessgames.com,right? |

My emphasis is upon those posts about democracy,not you.You dont have to direct people's attention in haste to some question of wording...
Clearly one has a divided view upon Chairman Mao,and I called them great figures,well,it might be all about wording,because in Chinese,we call all the names in history book great figures..."great"could be in a negative way or positive way,maybe it's not the correct usage of "great"...you see I'm not English speaker,how many times should I remind you?One shall read between lines,and then one knows exactly what another means!
Well,I shall defintely end all these posts here in any event. |
