sisyphus: Sebag accepted a draw in a position where she had some advantage. I wonder if the possibility of getting a GM norm entered her mind?

... which puts him in sole possession of first place with one round remaining. When the dust settles, I believe there will be eight (8) players just 0.5 points behind him going into tomorrow's final round.

Peligroso Patzer: Caruana and Tiviakov have finished with 7.5/9. If the games on boards 3 and/or 4 produce decisive result(s), the winner(s) will join them for a share of first.

Apparently so (even though the live coverage page at the official site stopped covering those games around the end of the first time control). So there will be four players tied for first at 7.5/9.

JointheArmy: This is an amazing performance by Fabiano. Does anyone know if Fabiano will break 2600 now with this performance?
Aug-15-07  pawnofdoom: <JoinTheArmy> Theres no way Caruana will gain 50 points just from this tournament, even with a performance over 2700. It's more like 10 or 20 points. I'm too lazy to check. But he might be able to break 2600 if he keeps this up.
Aug-20-07  Pendom: Caruana gained 17.3 points from the HZ Open. He also (previously) gained 11.7 from the Capo D'Orso and (from my calculations) 7.4 in the EU Champs and 9.1 in the July First Saturday. In the july list he was 2549, so he should be going to 2595 in the august list. On the FIDE website it lists only the HZ Open and Capo D'Orso (overall +29): http://www.fide.com/ratings/card.ph.... But undoubtedly the other two tournaments will be rated by august 1st.

JointheArmy: <pawnofdoom> Actually he's 5 points short of 2600, 2595 according to his FIDE card. BTW, I was referring to other tournaments as well that will be counted for the next list.

Looks like <Pendom> beat me to it.
