Kinghunt: The simple answer is d8 and h4 are forked in the final position, and black's attack is nowhere near strong enough to be worth a piece.
Mar-23-11  shalgo: For what it's worth, the games are also being broadcast, with the proper captions at the Rapid tournament page:

You do know that only two of the 12 players (Aronian and Gashimov) have more than two blindfold wins, right?

Mar-23-11  rifraf: I don't understand the recap on the main site - isn't there still one more round?

Domdaniel: <rifraf> I just saw that -- the account of Amber under <new games> on the homepage refers to the event in the past tense, with overall victory for Aronian.

That may be a near-certainty, but there *is* one round left in both blindfold and rapid. It starts two hours earlier than usual, on Thursday 24th. Tomorrow.

HeMateMe: Looks like Aronian will win the combined. A special player and, I think, early favorite to play Anand for the title.
Mar-23-11  kia0708: BTW, where are the combined standings for rapid and blindfold ?

HeMateMe: chessbase does a little combined, on each report. but, Aronian is the clear winner, atop the blindfold, and a high score in Rapids, too.

sevenseaman: With 1 point overall lead, Aronian is hardly likely to miss out in the last round. I will have to say I have been more impressed with Carlsen's dominant play.
Mar-24-11  Xeroxx: <kia0708: why Carlsen is so poor in blindfold ? just 2 wins to Aronian 6>Yes, if you have two wins in a tournament you are very poor.
Mar-24-11  Mr. Bojangles: This will prolly be the 3rd time Aronian is winning the BF category.

Domdaniel: They think it's all over.
Mar-24-11  firebyrd: <With 1 point overall lead, Aronian is hardly likely to miss out in the last round.> Probably, but Carlsen is surely capable of going 2-0 over Gelfand, and Karjakin is capable of holding Aronian to 1-1, so a shared win for Carlsen is not completely out of the question.

Thursday 9am EDST March 24 There are 12 players hence ELEVEN rounds- why on home page is <CG> posting results as is if tournament is over?

Domdaniel: Anand beat Giri. After many ups and downs, Topalov and Ivanchuk are probably drawing. Likewise Gris'n'Gash, a R+N-vs-R ending which could reach move 140.
Mar-24-11  anandrulez: Anand shows he is solid with a +3 in BF .
But his Rapid is dissapointing he is -1 in that format.
Mar-24-11  shalgo: No live coverage today?
Mar-24-11  shalgo: Yesterday we had a 50-move-rule draw in R+B v. R, and today we had one in R+N v. R.
Mar-24-11  turbo231: Gris and Gas played a very good blindfold.
Mar-24-11  turbo231: <shalgo: No live coverage today?>

I think chessgames.com got tired of the criticism concerning their coverage. One member yesterday said it was laughable.

Mar-24-11  shalgo: Aronian has been playing very fast. His 15.Ne5 appears to be a novelty; 15.Nb3 and 15.Qc2 have each been played several times.
Mar-24-11  shalgo: Carlsen-Gelfand has become very sharp. The position after 14...Re4:
