tamar: Morozevich is giving a clinic on the two bishops.
Oct-19-11  moroloser: way to go, Moro! Tomashevsky drew hours ago, he's the clear winner and still wants to squeeze win number 6 out of this one. Roiz playing well and trying to obtain draw number 11(!).

kellmano: <tamar> and what a clinic it is.

Most unMorozevichlike to play for win when the tournament is already decided. He couldn't be bothered to do it when he needed to win to stay in the world cup.

sisyphus: Roiz tosses it in after 59. Moro wins the tourney with 8.5/11, one and a half ahead of Tomashevsky.
Oct-19-11  moroloser: Moro the "zugzwang guru"! 1-0 and +6. I'm so happy about his comeback, this time I've really thought he would have never make it back in the top 10.
Oct-19-11  paavoh: Beautiful overall performance by Morozevich - congrats to him!

chessgames.com: We have news that Nikita Vitiugov withdrew after becoming ill with laryngitis, bronchitis, etc. We do hope he's feeling better soon.

This sad news is fortunate news for his opponents Peter Leko and Ni Hua, who both received one point byes.

Oct-19-11  haztivel: Morozevich stands now at 2762,4 live rating (no.9 in world) and gained almost 70 points from july's list when he had 2694
Oct-19-11  KKDEREK: Congratz Moro. Back to the top 10! I'm eager to seem him invited again to all top tourneys.
Oct-19-11  Blunderdome: Tomashevsky has made huge gains too.
Oct-19-11  KKDEREK: Indeed. Tomashevski at 2740+..Amazing..Closing to the 2750+ club.. Maybe the next top 10?
Oct-19-11  redwhitechess: nobody can defeat Shirov! and yes, welcome back to planet Moro.
Oct-19-11  checkmateyourmove: Tal is flipping over in his grave this week knowing his pupil has no wins or losses through round 11...haha

visayanbraindoctor: <nuwanda: i would not be surprised if Moro outplays Roiz from this position. but on the other hand, with the tournament victory in his bag, maybe he just calls it a day>

Even with the tournament victory ensured, fighting Moro played out the end game, a lesson in handling two bishops. He is proving to the chess world that he is back.

twinlark: It's a striking feature of this contest that the first five were all outright place getters (not shared), a unusual occurrence in a tournament with such a limited field.

HeMateMe: Moro is No. 9 on live ratings list.
Oct-20-11  siggemannen: twinlark: that is indeed very interesting and good of you to notice!
Oct-20-11  Whitehat1963: Is Shirov TRYING to draw every game?
Oct-23-11  kardopov: A class act by Morozevich. Let's see how he'll fare against the other bigwigs. When will be his next tournament?
Oct-23-11  Rook e2: Nice to see Moro win this.. Many Scotch games here also!

Marmot PFL: Looks like Leko is back at his peak form, winning a game or two, drawing the rest and hauling in a solid 2nd or 3rd place.

Marmot PFL: In fact one of his wins was a forfeit...
Oct-25-11  Rook e2: <Marmot PFL: Looks like Leko is back at his peak form, winning a game or two, drawing the rest and hauling in a solid 2nd or 3rd place> Haha nice comment!
Oct-25-11  bronkenstein: <Looks like Leko is back at his peak form, <winning a game> > Obvious transmission error.
