It's just that the idiots in Mainz keep getting players that have no chance, presumably so they can have Anand in Mainz every year. Bareev, Ponomariov (I know he already had his chance, but he made more of a match of it than Polgar and Shirov did, not to mention falling victim to a brilliant double piece sacrifice by Anand in one of the games), Morozevich, Grischuk etc. would all have a chance against him in rapid. Shirov was the best rapid player in 2002, the ratings were published in chessbase< http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail... >. Pono had his chance, yeah Anand has to test himself against Moro. Anand beat Grischuk in rapid in Corsica, he plays him in mainz next year ..so lets see. Aug-25-04    Minor Piece Activity: I liked the Polgar-Anand Rapid Match (2003) more. It was more exciting and had some of the craziest chess I've ever seen. Aug-26-04    PinkPanther: Bareev isn't a good rapid player? You're way off the mark there.
