Jun-13-08  dumbgai: <shr0pshire> It's true that Bu had a disappointing M-Tel and a poor start to this tournament, but he just had a couple of nice wins against Adams and Morozevich! He's back up to an even score for this tournament.
Jun-14-08  arsen387: Yeah yesterday was clearly not Moro's day. 2 draws and 2 losses out of 4 games. While Bu to the contrary was +2 that day. And Leko is pretty impressive and is currently the leader deservedly.

micartouse: A bittersweet victory I imagine for the always impressive Aronian. It looks like he went undefeated in 14 rounds!

Well, maybe. But as Keres said about Botvinnik, anyone can lose to Morozevich, he is a very strong player.

Kudos to the Armenian chess federation for renaming this tournament in Karen Asrian's honor.

acirce: Yes, but losing with White in less than 30 moves isn't anything Lékó often does. Especially as he had no losses before today.
Jun-15-08  researchj: therefore he is no Giant. Neither is any of the others.
Jun-15-08  zluria: Nice comeback by Gelfand!

hedgeh0g: Am I the only one who finds the high percentage of draws among Armenian players in this tournament a little suspect?
Jun-15-08  DUS: I don't think there are too many psycho users here.
Jun-15-08  square dance: yes, there is probably the correct amount.

An Armenian won this tournament. Now, that's suspect!

acirce: The Armenians have fixed world chess.
Jun-16-08  Nikita Smirnov: Nice result by Aronian.5 wins and 11 draws.Hmm...
Something looks really strange in the chessworld...
Jun-16-08  Nikita Smirnov: Oh sorry.3 Wins.
Jun-16-08  Microdot: The real tournament standings:
1st place: Levon Aronian 8.5 points
$70,000
2nd place: Peter Leko 8 points
$50,000
3rd place: Alexander Morozevich 7.5 points
$40,000
4th place: Boris Gelfand 7.5 points
$30,000
---
Unfortunately Chessgames.com's Tournament standings is not true that's because Morozevich finished at 3rd place and he took $40,000

Yes, it's all the fault of their new manager, Danailovian. :-)

what you mean?
Jun-16-08  PinkPanther: <hedgeh0g>
Make of it what you will, but it's fairly obvious that the Armenian players didn't try against each other in this tournament.
Jun-21-08  Nikita Smirnov: <notyetagm> that was a nice one.Danailovian.hehe
