Apr-28-06  Knight13: Russian Club Cup... Always an interesting tournament to see. Probably NOT a individual tournament. I'm pretty sure. Gotta be team form or something... Am I right!?

Dionyseus: Kasimdzhanov not doing good at all.
Apr-29-06  Petrosian63: <Knight13> Yes it is played in a team format.

percyblakeney: Interesting to compare the lengths of for example Morozevich's and Ivanchuk's games. 6 of Ivanchuk's 8 games are draws in 22 moves or less, while Moro's shortest draw is 56 moves.

percyblakeney: ...and Moro only has 2 draws in 7 games while the draw prize is taken by Asrian for 8 draws of 8 possible. An honourable mention goes to Dreev for twice drawing with white in less than ten moves against lower rated players.
Apr-29-06  Mameluk: From the lower boards, I would point out that Mamedyarov, a bit forgotten after his Wijk failure is showing, that he really belongs over 2700 and is a new star of chess. Also young Russians like Najer, Timofeev, Malakhov and Inarkiev are doing very well.

percyblakeney: Radjabov has been doing OK, +2 -0 =8 (after today's draw against Aronian), and he has been playing every day against strong opposition. Grischuk has been a bit disappointing with three losses, as Ponomariov with two.
Apr-29-06  lopium: Inarkiev is doing really nice, 4 wins on 6 games! wow!
Apr-29-06  810609: Vladislav Tkachiev has also good tournament, with nice win today against Andrei Kharlov today. Seems like he is coming back to "serious" chess after love affair with blitz chess and World Beauty Contest :-)
Apr-29-06  IT4LICO: In wich table Morozevich is? He has 7 wins and 2 draws. Incredible!

sisyphus: As near as I can tell, Morozevich plays second board for Tomsk 400 (behind Aronian).

percyblakeney: Another short draw by Ivanchuk today, that's 7 of 9 in 22 moves or less...

percyblakeney: ...and another impressive win by Mamedyarov, that's +6 -0 =3 for him (even if the live transmission calls his game against Brodsky a draw it can only be 1-0).
Apr-29-06  Shajmaty: <IT4LICO: He has 7 wins and 2 draws. Incredible!> Let me point out that Moro has already lost a game to Movsesian.

percyblakeney: Anton Shomoev is a player I've never heard of before, but here he's won easily against a couple of old FIDE World Champions, not bad for a player below 2500.

Chess is sooooooo boring game :-)
Btw any idea what was the final score of today´s game Eljanov-Shirov? Official live relay is still stuck at move 23 (only game without result).

Apr-29-06  Knight13: Come on this is team format! What's with Grandmaster draws? Don't you want your team to win?

notyetagm: Nice going by Mamedyarov, +6 =3 -0. That was the score that Aronian had last year.

Who else has done well besides Mamedyarov and Morozevich?

Apr-30-06  Mameluk: Last year winners Tomsk have very strange strategy this year. Aronian and Moro were missing against some of the strongest teams and now against the weakest opponents both are playing. Maybe this cost them title.

Appaz: <<notyetagm> Who else has done well besides Mamedyarov and Morozevich?> Add "&crosstable=1" to the address of this page and you should get the individual score in percent.

  nfazli: <appaz>nice ..thank you
May-01-06  Mameluk: Najer´s +5 is according to me the best performance of the tournament. 1st board was very tight, but all top teners should gain a few rating points - besides Ponomariov perhaps?!
May-01-06  LancelotduLac: Mamedyarov's +6 (including wins against Motylev, Kharlov, Bologan, and Volkov) was the best performance of the tournament.
