|Apr-10-06|| ||percyblakeney: Not too good results by many of the top rated players in the first six rounds.|
Stefanova (2502) has had white in four of six games against 2300 opposition but is only +1 after losing to Majdan (2297). Mkrtchian (2453) is -1 against three 2100 players, = in total. Dzagnidze (2442) has lost twice against 2200 players and has a minus score, as does Sebag (2434).
Yelena Dembo (2464) is doing fine with 4.5/6 and a 2500+ performance this far. Hopefully she has good chances to compete for first place, being the highest rated player in the top ten at the moment.

|Apr-10-06|| ||percyblakeney: ...and it could be worth pointing out that not all the best players participate in the Women's Championship. Of the ten highest rated European women Stefanova (ranked 5th in Europe) is the only one present.|
|Apr-10-06|| ||Mameluk: I really like the division Women and General. Interesting that Kosintseva´s play in the general section while Stefanova here.|
|Apr-10-06|| ||AlexandraThess: Yelena Dembo is doing fine so far but she has been rather unstable recently ,so i wouldn't put a tenner for her. Hope to see Anna-Maria Botsari in the Top 10 at the end.|
|Apr-10-06|| ||keypusher: I was wondering how that young prodigy Yifan Hou was doing in this event. Then I remembered that China is not in Europe.|
|Apr-10-06|| ||petrovalovski: Yes it is.|
|Apr-11-06|| ||lostemperor: That doesn't matter neither is Turkey :)|
|Apr-11-06|| ||petrovalovski: Armenia, Azerbijan, Israel...|
|Apr-11-06|| ||virginmind: come on, corina peptan, you are the first right before the last round! you got to struggle to win this championship, and become the european champion, just like nisipeanu did last year on men's section!! good luck!! romania's got to have another european champion!!|
|Apr-11-06|| ||Appaz: <<lostemperor> That doesn't matter neither is Turkey :)> 3.05% of Turkey is located in Europe (16.03% of the population, including Istanbul), the rest is located in Asia.|
|Apr-11-06|| ||Appaz: <lostemperor> and <petrovalovski: Armenia, Azerbijan, Israel...> Wiki has some interesting reading about this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transc...|
Including Israel in an European Ch. must be only for political reasons, as there are no geographical and doubtful cultural reasons.
|Apr-12-06|| ||Yelena Dembo: The new website of the European championship is now www.tsf.org.tr|
|Apr-12-06|| ||keypusher: Thanks, <Yelena Dembo>! Good luck!!|
|Apr-12-06|| ||Octavia: Could some1 tell them to make the webcam pic smaller? At the mo, all i can see is people walking around consisting of squares!|
|Apr-12-06|| ||Gregor Samsa Mendel: Dembo just won her game this round. Good show!|
|Apr-13-06|| ||virginmind: sorry for the error in my previous posting. for some reason i thought there were only eight rounds. but keep on winning, peptan!|
|Apr-13-06|| ||lostemperor: <Appaz> thanks for the link.|
|Apr-13-06|| ||lostemperor: I believe the European Women's Champion will receive the male GM-title if her performance is 2600+. Tie-breaker games will decide who will get the title in case of a tie.|
|Apr-13-06|| ||percyblakeney: <lostemperor> If so, Atalik or Bosboom Lanchava would be a comparatively weak GM. Both are below 2400 and Bosboom Lanchava has never reached it. Their performances are close to 2600 at the moment. But if Mariya Muzychuk in fifth place wins her last games she will have acceptable chances to become a GM in spite of being just 2172 :-)|
|Apr-15-06|| ||BIDMONFA: 7th European Individual Championship: Women (2006)|
EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP, WOMEN'S
Champion - EKATERINA POLOVNIKOVA
Sub-Champion - TEA BOSBOOM LANCHAVA
|Apr-15-06|| ||Ezzy: Great win by Ketarina Atalik the number 1 Turkish woman player and now European womens champion.|
|Apr-16-06|| ||lostemperor: <percyblakeney: If so, Atalik or Bosboom Lanchava would be a comparatively weak GM ..But if Mariya Muzychuk in fifth place wins her last games she will have acceptable chances to become a GM in spite of being just 2172> yes. Susan Polgar calls it cheapening of the title if I'm not mistaken. But the Fide rule was the continental women's champion gets the GM title if her performance is 2600+. Kosteniuk and Peng Zhoaqin got it that way. But I see Eketerina Atalik did not score the necessary 2600 performance.|
|Apr-16-06|| ||lostemperor: <Ezzy> nice cool avatar and congratulations with your premium membership!|
|Apr-16-06|| ||Ezzy: Thanks <lostemperor> for that welcoming gesture. This website is the only place to be for a chess enthusiast, so after 1 year and 1300 posts of continuos enjoyment, I realised is wan't just a temporary fad,and thought it would be a nice gesture to support the efforts of the <chessgames. com> team.
