May-09-12  Blunderdome: Should be an interesting tournament. Looking forward to Leko's games, especially against Caruana, Giri, and Hector (not quite a world-class player but an exciting attacker).

DIO: Maatalkko, indeed! I was secretly hoping that Leko would return to the board with a renewed attitude - kinda how Kramnik is not Drawnik any more, but nope ...

waustad: If you look at Leko's games here, there aren't any quick no content games. A dragon Yugoslav attack game that doesn't end up decisive often means that nobody blundered. Both sides are going for it.
May-13-12  Karpova: Tikkanen lost his 4th game in a row, this time with White against Leko who is now at +1 like Grandelius and Chao (who beat Hector).

waustad: Grandelius is tied for the lead with 2 rounds to go. They play in the penultimate round tomorrow an hour after the start of the WCC game (8 am EDT). The final round starts 2 hours earlier than all of the others.

waustad: Caruana wins a time trouble nail-biter vs Grandelius today. Nils had seconds on the clock and crumbled.
May-15-12  Illogic: Caruana wins a wild one over Grandelius and is now in the driver's seat. Credit to Grandelius to sacking everything but the kitchen sink!
May-15-12  kurtrichards: Great play by Nils until he fell into the deep pit called time trouble. Good play Fabiano. Fuerza Italia!

waustad: Congrats to Grandelius for giving it his all and coming oh so close in a tournament where he was the lowest rated player. I should, however mention that all 4 Swedes were rated between 2556 and 2587, so it wasn't a huge difference. The foreigners were all rated much higher.

HeMateMe: Leko won three games here. Shows he can break out of the drawish style that he has been linked to.
May-21-12  Illogic: It doesn't matter, the usual suspects will still be chirping whenever he draws a few games and then go mysteriously silent when he wins some.
