chessgames.com: The 53rd Hungarian Chess Championships took place in Heviz City, Hungary, May 12-20 '03. The event was Category XIII. Zoltan Almasi took first with 7/9.
Aug-04-04  cuendillar: Hungarian championship without Polgar and Leko. It sort of decreases the validity of Almasi's claim of national championship.

acirce: Well too many national championships are like that. Russian Championships without Kasparov and Kramnik? If the claim that the FIDE WC was not legit because of the lack of several top players is valid, I'd say the same would be the case for lots of national championships. And the female WC didn't have Polgar either.
Dec-23-12  wordfunph: GM Zoltan Almasi won the event with 7/9 and the Hungarian Chess Federation forgot to obtain a medal or a cup for the champion :(
