 | | chessgames.com: Euro Club Cup games are now online. Here's the one that everybody's talking about: Huzman vs Kasparov, 2003 |
| Oct-03-03 | | uponthehill: Go Polonia!
Interesting that e.q. Irish clubs has players whose rankings are below 1800. I can create a team among my friends which would be able to destroy such clubs. Strange thing that they are allowed to compete with such clubs as NAO, Polonia or Ładia. |

| Oct-03-03 | | zorro: It's only annoying that one of the most beautiful country the world over, which I so proudly have the honour to live in, be not represented in this club championship, I say! ;-) |
| Oct-05-03 | | uponthehill: Polonia, pride of Poland, gained the silver beating Kasparov's Ladia Kazan! Vindalooo!!! |
| Oct-06-03 | | Maroczy: uponthehill: Us Poles are always shortchanged by the media, I wonder who is " behind " that? |
| Oct-06-03 | | uponthehill: Yes I've noticed it. There are some reasons, but I do not want to discuss them on forum. (generalnie chodzi o to, ze Zydzi amerykanscy nas niestety nie lubia a spora czesc spoleczenstw zachodu nie za bardzo kojarzy fakt, ze Polska to kraj odrebny od Rosji. Pozdrawiam) |
| Oct-06-03 | | Maroczy: uponthehill: Czy Pan moze diskutowac dalej o ten temat? Dam Panu moj e-mail adres. |
| Oct-06-03 | | Shadout Mapes: An interesting Kasparov game from this event is mentioned here (http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail...), does anyone know if it's in this database? |

 | | chessgames.com: We now have several hundred more games from this tournament, including the Kasparov game mentioned above. Garry Kasparov plays for Ladia-Kazan; other players include Sergei Rublevsky, Ilia Smirin, Viktor Bologan and Alisa Galliamova. You can see Kasaparov's performance here: European Clubs Cup (Men) (2003) The French NAO Chess Club of Paris won this event. Their team
includes Alexander Grischuk, Peter Svidler, Michael Adams, Joel Lautler, Vallejo Pons Francisco, Etienne Bacrot, and Laurent Fressinet. |

| Oct-08-03 | | seoulmama: uponthehill, no offence, but how can u create such a team when u are rated only 1400?? |
| Oct-08-03 | | uponthehill: seoulmama: Of course I didn't want to say, that I would be playing in such a team. I meant that I know many people, which I had often an opportunity to play with, who have higher ranking than 2000. Many of them visits ofetnly our city chess club in which we meet every wedensday. Players who have 2000-2200 rankings are not so rare, and I know plenty of them. So, strange thing for me is that players with worse rankings than them are allowed to play with Kasparov, Shirov, Vallejo Pons and co. at the international event. Imagine that your local highschool team would be playing in the same tournament as Manchester United, and a good city playground kicker would play against David Beckhham. |
| Oct-08-03 | | drukenknight: You ought to first examine the rating system closely. |
| Oct-08-03 | | uponthehill: Maybe there are some ranking differences but see the results of those clubs: http://venizelia.4t.com/ecc2003/men... For me that is obvious that in that tournament the amateurs were allowed to play with professionals, and that's strange for me. |
