|Dec-21-03|| ||shadowmaster: Some info on this tourney from the TWIC website: <The XVI Carlos Torre Memorial takes place in Merida in the Yucatan region of Mexico 12th-20th December 2003. 6 Round Swiss followed by a knockout. The top 12 in the Swiss qualified and were joined by Alexei Dreev, Boris Gelfand, Valery Filippov and Liviu-Deter Nisipeanu. Surprisingly Yuniesky Quezada (who beat both Gelfand and Filippov) won the event. Knockout has 2 90 minute games followed if needed by 2 15 minute games followed by sudden death 5 minute games.> |
