chessgames.com: By popular demand, here are some games from the Aeroflot open. We'll be updating this page as more games become available.

The game scores haven't been reviewed yet for errors, so there are probably a few.

Feb-22-04  ruylopez900: Well I must say the Aeroflot Open was much more exciting then Linares has been. Maybe those super GMs could take a lesson from these IMs and "lesser" GMs

shr0pshire: Thank you chessgames.com. You made my week by posting another tourney. I was just getting too frustrated with Linares.

Paul123: I was looking at some of the games on the official Aeroflot web site and thinking the same thing as both of you.

Now here is fighting chess I thought to myself!

Cecil Brown: The Aeroflot festival has now finished with a three way tie for first between Rublevsky,Vaganian and Filippov all on 7/9.

They finished 1,2 and 3 in the order I've given on tiebreak.

A good result for the veteran Armenian Rafael Vaganian, now in his 50's. He's played a couple of nice QGD and French games in this tournament too.

Feb-25-04  equanimus: Bologan ended in place 166!
Feb-26-04  Richard3: Magnus Carlsen continues his remarkable progress. Carlsen - Shaposhnikov may be a candidate for the future book, "How to Beat Magnus Carlsen."

AdrianP: I wasn't able to follow the Aeroflot festival... would anyone be kind enough to post a list of interesting games from it here?
Mar-23-04  ruylopez900: Congrats to all the players, especially Canadians Kevin Spraggett and Mark Bluvshtein who placed fairly well.
Mar-23-04  Benjamin Lau: AdrianP, chessbase has a candidate list of "most beautiful games" from Aeroflot 2004. Entirely subjective of course. http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail...
