Feb-23-05    Mameluk: So who is playing in Dortmund in July? I guess itīs Sutovsky, who is the only one with 5 blacks in whole tournament. After Kaidanov, Bologan and Rublevsky itīs the 4th very uncompromising and fighting winner of this open. Even if I think that Ivanchuk, Bacrot and even Akopian are undoubtely better players. Feb-23-05    Akavall: What an ending! I feel bad for Kharlov, he played really well, but then slipped at the very last moment. I would've liked to see Ivanchuck win, but it would be interesting to see Sutovsky in Dortmund. Feb-23-05    ARMENIA: akobian won !!!!!!!! Feb-23-05    RisingChamp: Its unbelievable that Sutovsky won the tournament,after trailing the leader by a whole point AND having black in the last round.BRAVO Sutovsky for his beautiful chess and deserved winner-hope he keeps it up in Dortmund. Feb-23-05    iron maiden: Congratulations to Sutovsky, taking first place against all odds: he had to win as black, Kharlov had to lose, and Ivanchuk, as white, had to lose or draw. How many other players would have just taken an early draw and gotten out of there? In any case, it'll be interesting to watch how he fares at Dortmund this summer. Do I understand correctly the winner of Aeroflot has an automatic invitation to Dortmund? Where is Dortmund? How else does one qualify for Dortmund? What makes Dortmund one of the "big three?" Feb-24-05    iron maiden: <suenteus po 147> 1. Dortmund is in Germany. 2 & 3. Dortmund is the third-biggest tournament of the year; clearly behind Corus and Linares, but ahead of everything else. It usually contains most of the top five players, plus two or three outsiders--the winner of Aeroflot, the top German, and one of the child prodigies. A sampling of past line-ups: 2003 had Bologan, Anand, Kramnik, Leko, Radjabov and local player Naiditsch, and last year featured Anand, Kramnik, Leko, Svidler, Bologan, Rublevsky, Naiditsch and Karjakin. Feb-24-05    cu8sfan: My prediction which I posted on the Shakhriyar Mamedyarov page was Ivanchuk, Sutovsky and Bacrot. I'm happy that two of the three made it into the first three. Sutovsky is a great attacking player. It's fun to play over his games. Feb-24-05    ARMENIA: Armenia now has two 2700 players ! That's an improvement ! Of course Vaganian wasn't in his best form after the Olymiad but it is interesting to see that almost all of the Armenian players had positive improvments. Conan Doyle never specified what kind of pipe Holmes was using. Mar-03-05    Maroczy: <cu8sfan> I like the Basil Rathbone Holmes films; I recently bought " The Hound of the Baskervilles ", my favorite. That's when Hollywood made decent movies with good actors. There are good films today but I like the 30's & 40's films. How about Greer Garson? I haven't seen anyone that's even close in contemporary films. Just my opinion, don't mean nuthin'.
