chessgames.com: We now have the 2005 Czech championship games online. David Navara won this event on tiebreaks.
Feb-15-05  iron maiden: After Nakamura, Volokitin and Cheparniov, he's the fourth teenage winner of a major national championship in the last few months.
Feb-15-05  weirdoid: Boy, Milos Jirovsky drew all of his games! And not a single one of them even reached move 30! Look at Vokac vs M Jirovsky, 2005 in particular. I guess even the likes of Leko, Kramnik and Gelfand could learn something from this guy.
Feb-15-05  yoozum: Coming home from school to Czech on the results of the games was painful. The amount of short draws was unbelievable.
Feb-15-05  fgh: Does somebody know how many points is Navara scheduled to win after this tournament?
Feb-16-05  nikolaas: +4.1
Feb-16-05  Mameluk: Itīs always hard to play your friends, and Karlovy Vary is so beautiful town, but if you want to see really super drawish tournament, see Czech championship 2004.

So Navara gains 4 points with 8/11 and loses 5 points from 0,5-1,5 against Shirov. It is evidently easier to gain elo from three 5 round tournaments than from one 15 round. I wonder whether is this right. I know that itīs because some exotic player would be rated 3200 after scoring some 25 of 27 in their national championship but still...

Feb-18-05  WTHarvey: Best finish of the bunch is Petr Haba vs Jiri Lechtynsky, imo.
