Mar-15-05    cade: Vaganian is really off form at the moment. Its a shame because he can play some amazing chess when hes in the zone. Mar-15-05    AdrianP: Surprisingly lacklustre performance from Svidler as well - there are a lot of short draws in his games. Mar-15-05    AgentRgent: <cade> I don't know... Rafael drew against the big 4 (Grischuk, Bacrot, Svidler, and Dreev) including 2 with Black (Grischuk & Dreev). Onischuck sac'ed a bishop on move 16 to force a perpetual. Against Bologan, he simply was outplayed. (I suspect he overlooked 37. Ne3). The 10 mover vs Sadvakasov was sandwiched between the Loss to Bologan and the game against Grischuk. Overall not a bad result if somewhat less than stellar. Mar-15-05    iron maiden: Not really surprising for Svidler. His results in these tournaments have been mediocre ever since last year's Corus. Mar-15-05    yoozum: Svidler has been underperforming for a while now. As I've stated before, I'm glad Bologan is well on his way to joining the other 2700ers, despite him being very inconsistent. This result is exactly what Bacrot needed after some mediocre tournaments. He's actually made me realize with this tournament that he may actually deserve his rating. Mar-16-05    Illogic: Svidler - wow he really phoned it in. 5 out of 9 games were 22 moves or less. Mar-16-05    cade: Svidler may have phoned in his performance but his one win is a real classic. Mar-17-05    Mameluk: Svidler currently scored 2/2 in Bundesliga, beating Landa and Volokitin. I think he may have been sick in Poikovsky or something. Time controls were quite fine I think, no FIDE-Shirov destructions. Mar-17-05    acirce: Svidler scored +1 against a 2676 rating average. Pretty much what is statistically expected, just lost a couple of points. Together with those wins in Bundesliga it could mean he's back after some mediocre results, although he would need new tests against the world's best too. Mar-17-05    nikolaas: Svidler underperformed, but only very slightly. Almost all the players performed more or less as expected. Only Sadvakasov has a significant drop and Bologan raises a fair bit.
