Apr-03-05  hintza: <Christian Sword> No, if you look at the games you will find most of the A00 games have been misclassified. Some kind of error maybe, or <chessgames.com> just hasn't sorted out the ECO codes yet for whatever reason.
Apr-03-05  biglo: Cork was designated the European City of Culture for a year (open to cities within the European Union). This was a European Union Chess Championship held in conjunction with that.

  chessgames.com: The PGN files we got from the official site were full of errors; some of them even had the wrong year! We're still sorting out the names, ECO codes, etc. The openings should be corrected soon. Thanks.
Apr-03-05  aw1988: The wrong YEAR? This is taken from the actual scoresheets? I hope not, I would be quite worried if some of the players didn't know it was 2005. I wonder what some of the years were listed as?
Apr-04-05  PawnOfTheDead: I believe that one of the players - Jesus Nogueiras - put down the date as 0000. He mentioned something about it being his birthday. Apparently he missed the last round - had an appointment with a cross.
