May-21-05  mynameisrandy: Wow. How many points did Chucky gain here?
May-21-05  Kangaroo: Sad that Ivanchuk and Ponomariov were not admitted to the FIDE championship that Kramnik and Kasparov ignored.

In my view, either of them looked much stronger than several replacements.

The ELO coefficient is just one out of many rapidly chaging indicators.

Assuming the current ELO as the only reason for decision making is quite a weird tool. We shall have afterwards a champion that will not be as bright as his predecessors.

May-21-05  Kangaroo: Ivanchuk gained 9 out of 11, the next was Bruzon with 6 1/2 ... .
May-21-05  csmath: 9.5 out of 12. He drew the last game with Bruzon and got 9.5.
May-21-05  nikolaas: I guess <Mynameisrandy> meant Elo points and in that case he won 12.2.
Bruzon: +0.4
Dominguez-Perez:-7.2
Delgado: +9.6
Nogueiras: +11.8
Jobava: -12.6
Arencibia: -13.2
Of Course assuming I didn't miscalculate.
May-21-05  cade: Wow Chucky won every game in which he had white except against Bruzon.

suenteus po 147: Speaking of Bruzon, he not only managed to score second in the tournament below Ivanchuk, but he also was able to draw both of his games against Chucky. He will definitely be a player to watch in the coming years if these results are indicative of anything.

refutor: good for ivanchuk...since the level of the opponents was lower than what he's used to playing, he tried some things he would never use against the "linares" crowd...bishop's opening, accelerated dragon, trompowsky, the french...good for him
May-26-05  Knight13: Ivanchuk lost 3 rating points. Walter Arencibia gained 3 points. How's that sound?
May-26-05  nikolaas: <Knight13> Are you sure about that? Sounds strange to me. What's the source?
May-27-05  delterp: I don't know very much about this player, Jesus Nogueiras, but of his 12 games in this tournament, four were draws in under 15 moves. That is simply disgraceful. I understand if your last game went long or you aren't feeling well, but play to win or get out of the tournament.
May-27-05  WMD: Blessed be the peacemakers...
Jun-08-05  coolchess: i think its not to celebrate Ivanchuk victorie, these players here have not played in Linares and some big tournaments like Ivanchuk had, so it was obvioud he was going to win easy.

I thought the was going to had a better advantage, an experienced GM winning some future promises,
