jamesmaskell: Of course...Get ready...set....oh wait a sec, youve already gone!

England beat Russia in the mens section and England beat Germany in the womens section. I think England did well. The mens England team was certainly not at its strongest in Sweden.

Aug-08-05  percyblakeney: Netherlands won only 9 games in the whole tournament (Ukraine and Israel won 13), but on the other hand this was their only loss: Van Wely vs Kotronias, 2005

They played like Petrosian in his matches. Winning a match by the minimal one point (2 1/2 to 1 1/2) is still winning the match. Sure it's nice to win matches 4-0 but it's more important not to lose.

Aug-08-05  TruthHurts: <jamesmaskell>, England did not beat Russia in men section, only Netherland, France and Hungary did.
Aug-08-05  TruthHurts: And they did not beat germany in wooman section , maybe you looked at an other team.

Shams: I am especially happy for Timman-- this might be the final feather in his cap. He may not be board one but I bet he revels in this win more anyone. As well he should.
Aug-09-05  cade: <England did not beat Russia in men section, only Netherland, France and Hungary did.>

You are WRONG.

13. England
14. Russia

<And they did not beat germany in wooman section , maybe you looked at an other team.>

WRONG WRONG WRONG

13. England
14. Germany

Aug-09-05  TruthHurts: <cade> I was talking about beating them in one game so I am not wrong .
Aug-09-05  TruthHurts: And calm yourself, if you want you can delete your non sense shouting post ("WRONG WRONG", it looks like a child screaming his anger), I will delete this one...

Beating Russia or Germany in a single game, no, finishing ahead of them in the final standings yes .

jamesmaskell: cade...its OK. No need to be so abrupt. I wasnt clear about it. I meant the overall table, not individual games...my bad :)
Aug-09-05  cade: I enjoy being abrupt, especially when someone slanders the English team. England would have been one of the favourites to win if our 2 best players (Adams and Short) had bothered to show up.
Aug-09-05  TruthHurts: <CADE> grow up kid. And stop being paranoid, nobody slandered the english team, you're over reacting like a hooligan drunk supporter. You're desapointed that Short and Adams were not here, ok good, but stop being childish. And by the way what about Hungary without Polgar and Leko, or Bulgaria without Topalov, or Russia without Kramnik Morozevich and Grischuk as an example, or even Spain without Shirov and Vallejo. As an example France didn't have the money to pay their best players for the olympiad , England did have for the olympiad and didn't had here, that's life. And this is not at all a reason to react non sense this way like a soccer fanatic blinded supporter, because this has nothing to do with what I've said, keep your frustrations and have a walk. Calm down kid...
Aug-09-05  TruthHurts: And a little statistic for the information:
Here, would have been the start list sorted by average ranking of players, of the european championship, if the 5 better players of each country would have played.

1.Russia
2.Ukraine
3.Hungary
4.France
5.Bulgaria
6.Israel
7.Armenia
8.Netherland
9.<England>
10. ......

So one of the favourites to win, hmm, I would say that at least 8 would have been more :).

Aug-09-05  cade: No need to be racist "kid". I'm not even English so keep your racism to yourself.
Aug-09-05  TruthHurts: "Racism", what are you taking about, there's no relation to the subject, it's irrelevant. Anyway you calmed down kid, great, so that's what counts.
Aug-09-05  kolobok: relax guys you beat team Russia-3 not 1, without kasparov, kramnik, morozevich, this is the reason Russia still #1
Aug-09-05  Montreal1666: about Russia's result:

Aug-10-05  cade: Calling someone who you think is english a "hooligan drunk supporter" is racism. Deny it all you want you have shown yourself to be a racist who resorts to the basest insults you can think of.

The truth does hurt.

Aug-10-05  TruthHurts: <"hooligan drunk supporter">

1.The word hooligan was referring to the fanatism you were showing by shouting "WRONG" for nothing, like an idiot hooligan drunk soccer supporter, nothing to do with England but with you kid:

2.I am french and my club PSG was often full of hooligan, often drunk, hooligan are not only english, they are Turkish, Italian (one Roma supporter died killed last year by a Lazio supporter as an example), french (PSG had a huge community of hooligan supporter with nazi supporters in the 90's and still today some of them often fight with others french team supporters, Bordeaux or Marseille also has hooligans as an example), Dutch (PSV has hooligans every body knows it, as Ajax or Feyenord and they used to fight each other etc etc....). Thinking that only english have hooligan, or to associate automatically hooligans to England, is being ignorant or ... "racist".

Truth hurts it's true and what you're saying is irrelevant... This discussion is ended for me , enough talk for nothing, with little kids...

Aug-11-05  cade: Looks like you have a poor grasp on the English language. Look up the word "stereotype" in a dictionary then come back and post again, who knows you might even make sense then.
Aug-11-05  Larsker: Stereotyping? Must be twice as good as monotyping. But using all ten fingers is still the best.
Aug-16-05  aw1988: So when is the Olympiad?
Aug-16-05  percyblakeney: It begins in May 2006: http://www.olimpbase.org/2006/2006i...
