Anand took such a big early lead that both of them knew the final result was a foregone conclusion. It feels like both of them lost interest in the match subsequently. Anand would normally not lose so easily, and Grischuk even went on to play simultaneously in the Open Rapid event. Feb-18-06    Aseem: I dont understand, why does Grishuk play Najdorf against the second best najdorf player in a rapid match that too. Its just a waste, only Kasparov can play Najdorf against Anand. Rest all players if you check Ponomariov, Kramnik and Gelfand have failed against anand in a Najdorf. If a player is a sicilian specialist then you can play other variations when againsty Anand, like Richter Rauzer, Schvesnikov, Taimov, Klashnikov. Apart from being a great sicilian killer, Anand is the fastest player on the plant who can calculate almost instantaneously. So placing him in the whits said of the Najdorf he feels like a fish in water. Therefore Grishuk should have surprised Anand with another varation Apr-29-08    positionalgenius: Nice match here,with alot of active games.
