I feel Jan Werle is the true winner of this tournament gaining +7.7 ELO points. Still, it's a shame that he needed 5.5 points to get a GM norm and he he only came in half a point short! It must be a flaw in the ELO system: how can you lose points by winning against another player, no matter what his or her rating? Apr-02-06    who: Though in general ELO only really works if you are playing people rated around the same rating as you. Kasparov could play 100 games against me and win each one and he would gain rating points even though it clearly has no bearing on his skill level. Apr-02-06    nasmichael: It could be perhaps that the "lower" rated players are stronger than their ratings suggest. Sasikiran had the winning percentage in the tournament--he did what he came to do.
