Kozul (8) - Izoria (7)
Belov (7) - Ivanchuk (7,5)
Inarkiev (7) - Nikolic (7)

Apr-14-06 | | Maroczy: Former European champion Macieja has played some tough draws vs. Jobava, Shanava and Gurevitch. He's having one of his best efforts in a long time. |
Apr-14-06 | | notyetagm: <Ivan23: Last round pairings on top boards:> I thought this tournament was 13 rounds? This is only rounds 11. |
Apr-15-06 | | Ivan23: <notyetagm> Only 11 rounds will be played. Last round today, tie-breakers in Sunday and closing ceremony and departures in Monday (hence Apr 4 - Apr 17). |
Apr-15-06 | | Ivan23: Kozul-Izoria drawn after 5 minutes and 10 moves played. Ivanchuk needs a win with Black in an Exchange Slav against Belov to share 1st place with Kozul. |
Apr-15-06 | | whatthefat: Well, I decided to give Georgiev one last chance to win me back my chessbucks. Unfortunately, I overlooked the fact that HE'S SOFT AS ANYTHING AND CAN ONLY LAST 9 MOVES AS WHITE!! Ahem... excuse me.. getting all worked up here... Serenity now. |

Apr-15-06
 | | keypusher: Belov appears to have no objection to a draw, but Ivanchuk seems to be trying to win. http://www.tsf.org.tr/LIVE/web4/
<whatthefat> LOL. Glancing over Georgiev's games so far, I am sure he was very tired. |
Apr-15-06 | | whatthefat: <keypusher>
Yeah, I know, it's actually a pretty impressive result for him. Just a shame he had to cost me about a grand of imaginary money along the way. |
Apr-15-06 | | Ivan23: Belov-Ivanchuk draw.
It's official now, Kozul is the new champ. |
Apr-15-06 | | notyetagm: ICC claims Ivanchuk won to go to 8.5 and tie Kozul. |
Apr-15-06 | | Ivan23: Official site says draw after 30 moves. |
Apr-15-06
 | | Gregor Samsa Mendel: The Belov-Ivanchuk position on the official site sure looks like a draw to me. This is the first time I've followed the progress of a tournament like this via the internet. I guess short draws are very common in the penultimate round of a tournament. One game in the Women's section lasted all of five moves. |
Apr-15-06 | | TheUnkraut: (Whatthefat) you really missunderstand georgiev: he might have played only 9 moves-but im sure he was giving his very best till the titanic fight was over |

Apr-15-06 | | Ezzy: Congratulations to Grandmaster Kozul the new European champion! What an improvement on last year when he scored 5.5/13 and lost 24 rating points in that one tournament. |
Apr-16-06 | | WarmasterKron: According to ChessBase, Kozul's performance rating for the tournament was an impressive 2791. |
Apr-16-06 | | stanleys: Another big success for a Croatian player - about a month ago GM Zelcic became European blitz champion and GM Palac took the third place.
Congratulations! |
Apr-17-06 | | Petrosian63: Will Ivanchuk gain any ELO points from the European Individual Championships? |
Apr-17-06 | | AlexandraThess: What a sad championship the legendary Ulf Andersson had hard moments |
Apr-18-06 | | Maroczy: Where is that elusive last round? |
