| May-01-06 | | EmperorAtahualpa: Two Dutch on top! That's great.
How many rounds does this tournament have? 9? |
| May-01-06 | | babakova: Swedish chess is no longer what it once was...Instead we have an abundance of poker players. Seriously, who cares about poker? sigh... |
| May-01-06 | | midknightblue: (babakova) I agree that it is a shame. |

| May-03-06 | | percyblakeney: Stellwagen is doing well again, in Corus B earlier this year he won against Lahno, but in the other 12 games he scored 4 draws and 8 losses... |
| May-03-06 | | EmperorAtahualpa: <percyblakeney> Yes I remember that from Corus. On the day that I visited Corus I also saw Stellwagen lose, I believe it was against Giovanni Vescovi. When I was waiting in the evening at the bus-stop, Stellwagen walked by and he looked very tired but also frustrated. He is a very shy boy though, a weird fellow! |
| May-03-06 | | TIMER: So far Timman has 5.5/6 (92%) against an average oppoent of 2553, giving him a rating performance of 2954! Timman is in great form, playing like a top player again in this event. |

 | | Maatalkko: Timman is the best! I somewhat irrationally bet all of my ChessBookie points on him to win this tournament, but it looks like I lucked out on that one! He used to be a great player, and although that fades with age it doesn't disappear entirely. Contrary to what most people think, I believe that the older players in a tournament have the most potential for a spectacular result. Although prodigies are fast improving, the old legends like Timman can always turn out amazing results if they return to their youthful form. |

| May-05-06 | | orio24: Timman plays in excellent form. I didn't expect such a performance. It is very exciting! |
| May-05-06 | | Jim Bartle: "Timman has a tendency to tire, though, and fade toward the end of tournaments." Boy, I'll bet whoever made that comment after 3 rounds feels like an idiot about now. |

Is it the same God of the Armenians? :)
Congrats to Timman BTW...

| May-07-06 | | waddayaplay: <Timman has a tendency to tire, though, and fade toward the end of tournaments. Boy, I'll bet whoever made that comment after 3 rounds feels like an idiot about now.> Well last two rounds he drew in 12 and 14 moves respectively.
Timman vs Fedorov, 2006
P Carlsson vs Timman, 2006 |
| May-07-06 | | percyblakeney: Timman was impressive and it's fun to see him play well. At the same time he may have been slightly "lucky" a couple of times. Berg refused the draw and played on to lose, Cicak had a clear draw when he blundered, and Stellwagen missed the winning continuation. But in all I think he deserved his "luck"... |
| May-08-06 | | Marvol: <waddayaplay: Well last two rounds he drew in 12 and 14 moves respectively.> Yes well maybe that's because he was leading easily? No need for him to take risks or what. |
