Jul-26-06  percyblakeney: <former Woman World Champion Skripchenko>

She's never been World Champion and probably never will either, looking at how she's soon passing 2400 going in the wrong direction...

Jul-26-06  doremi: Awsome combination by Atalik (black) mating former woman ***European*** champion Skripchenko
Jul-26-06  percyblakeney: <doremi> OK :-)
Jul-27-06  e4Newman: dembo with a perfect sreak of draws

muzychuk-dembo would have been neat to see anna attack down the a-file

ahmadov: There is either a problem with the relay or Atalik is one piece down.

Octavia: Pia Cramling won again (6th rd)! Socko & Dembo are still playing in a same B endgame. If they draw Pia will be 1 pt ahead.
Jul-30-06  bob000: Dembo looks like she has a won position.

cu8sfan: No draws today, and I scored 3-3 in the prediction contest! The men's tournament on the other hand is a desaster for me...

Octavia: I wonder why Pia agreed a =. Did she think her position was lousy?
Jul-31-06  percyblakeney: Cramling is sole leader and had black, probably didn't want to take any risks...

Octavia: superior game by Pia today. Yelena lost her c p & after that it was just a matter of technique!

Caissanist: < I wonder why Pia agreed a =. Did she think her position was lousy?> I'm sure she was pacing herself with black, the day before her game with white against the player in second place. Looks like it was a wise move.

Caissanist: <No offense to Pia Cramling, but in that picture she looks a little like the "House Mother" next to those young players.>

Looks like Mommy is giving the little girls quite a spanking.

Octavia: <in that picture> she looks just like Carlsen has looked ever since he was 1st= in the Nor championship! He's morose because he thought he oughta win it outright. She's morose, cause she used to play & do well in mixed company (mainly men). However, i think its good that she's given these youngsters a few lessons. Even 10 years ago, a women's comp was not very strong. But now they're getting stronger all the time, which can only be good. So, winning this will be good for Pia & if its a piece of cake - all the better!

Octavia: Pia = today & if she does the same tomorrow, she'll be at least 1st=. But I hope she'll win tomorrow - just to show those youngsters!
Aug-02-06  percyblakeney: Cramling has already won Biel (6.5/9 as compared to second placed Socko's 5/9), so a draw in the last round wouldn't be too surprising...
Aug-02-06  JYMMI: Tomorrow we will have Dembo X Muzychuk 3rd place decision...

Octavia: Congratulations to Pia Cramling! How does it affect her grading? I didn't see anything about that on the official site.

Caissanist: Unfortunately this wasn't a very strong tournament, or at least not a very high-rated one; most of the world's top women played in the North Urals Cup instead. It looks like she'll gain about 8 points.

Aug-04-06  JYMMI: <WannaBe: Need more photos of Ms. Muzychuk, and Ms. Skripchenko =)> Ah! Lol! I knew you were going to say that...Anna Muzychuk :)
