| Sep-17-06 | | lazydaisy: < never even heard most of these players.> areshchenko is a promising ukranian talent if i am not mistaken, you must have heard about humpy, she is about 18 ot 19, who knows maybe she will be the nest judit polgar?
leader lagrave is nothing special i guess but he is quite young and i don't expect every person born 1990 to play like carlsen. here are the ratings of the participants: Vachier-Lagrave, Maxime FRA 2577 born 1990
Gashimov, Vugar AZE 2644 born 1986
Koneru, Humpy IND 2545 born 1987
Predojevic, Borki BIH 2569 born 1987
Areshchenko, Alexander UKR 2641 born 1986
Wang, Yue CHN 2626 born 1987
Wojtaszek, Radoslaw POL 2622 born 1987
Kosintseva, Tatiana RUS 2479 born 1986
this is not a cat.20 tournament but the players are good and i believe it will provide nice and instructive games. too bad it will not deserve much attention now that everyone has that topalov-kramnik match fever |
 |
| Sep-17-06 | | shr0pshire: Too bad the games are 80% draws so far. I guess youthful exuberence is even no match for the grandmaster draw! |
 |
| Sep-17-06 | | percyblakeney: All eight standard games in the Quarter Finals were drawn, as were all four games in the semis, after rapid tiebreaks once again Vachier-Lagrave and Wang meet in the final. |
 |
| Sep-17-06 | | Mameluk: All these players are already well known, even if when Pono and Bacrot battled in Lausanne, it was more interesting. The drawfest comes as a big surprise. Players like Gashimov are usually entertaining, I blame KO system. |
 |
| Sep-17-06 | | percyblakeney: Many interesting players in the field, but I'd prefer a normal round robin instead of all these minimatches... |
 |
| Sep-17-06 | | ahmed abdelmonem: mind your own chess business
that was said in the past to think by your self and no one help you |
 |
| Sep-17-06 | | ahmed abdelmonem: but how about chess programs now
now i don't need your help i got a chess program and i think i can do any thing by it
no way
the worst thing to use is chess programs to learn and play chess |

| Sep-17-06 | | djmercury: <leader lagrave is nothing special i guess> yeah, check his games in Aeroflot this year, really rubbish player.... |

 | | jamesmaskell: Vachier Lagrave is seen to be one of the upcoming stars. Because hes French hes not so well noticed... |
 |
| Sep-17-06 | | percyblakeney: Vachier-Lagrave won the first game of the final (with black). |
 |
| Sep-17-06 | | Knight13: <lazydaisy> Thank you for the information. I believe that Maxime Vachier Lagrave is going to win the tournament. |
 |

| Sep-18-06 | | VishyFan: The matches involving Wang Yue - Vachier-Lagrave, Areschenko - Gashimov, Humpy - Wojtaszek have now entered the tie-break..... |
 |
Sep-18-06
 | | jamesmaskell: I go for Humpy, Vachier-Lagrave (thats a cool surname) and Areschenko. |
 |
| Sep-18-06 | | percyblakeney: Vachier-Lagrave won the tournament after beating Wang in both tiebreak rapid games in the final. |

| Sep-21-06 | | syracrophy: I canīt believe that the youngest player of the tournament won. I had my hopes on Koneru Humpy, or Radoslaw Wojtaszek. Itīs simply amazing. |

Dec-07-06
 | | ahmadov: <Knight13: I never even heard most of these players> How long have you been following international tournaments? |
 |
| Dec-07-06 | | Hot Logic: I've only heard of Koneru, T. Kosintseva and Wang Yue. Out of those three the only one I know much about is Tatania. Of course these guys being juniors I'm sure we'll hear more of them in years to come. |

Sep-03-07
