WannaBe: 2 game tie breaker?! If they are still tied after 2 games, will there be rapid or blitz to settle the score?

jamesmaskell: Both, at the same time...
Sep-19-06  esticles: Wow, ironic that Agdestein has to play his own pupil for the national championship. Bet he's wishing he didn't teach him so much...

refutor: why is it ironic? the same thing happened last year

luzhin: If it is ironic the first time, then it is ironic the second time. If it is not ironic the first time, then it is not ironic the second time. I think it is still ironic.

jamesmaskell: I really dont like that song...Alanis Morisette just isnt my cup of tea...

AgentRgent: Not to mention that nothing in that song is actually ironic... http://dictionary.reference.com/sea...
Sep-20-06  Dionyseus: Both games drawn. Dun-dun-dun...
Sep-20-06  BaranDuin: Is it true that Carlsen has never won the Norwegian championship?

WarmasterKron: <AgentRgent> Apparently, that what makes the song ironic. Or so Morisette claims. Perhaps someone pointed that out to her and she had to dramatically think of an excuse.

...

Chess? What's that, then?

jamesmaskell: Its true that Carlsen is yet to win the Norwegian Chanpionships. Agdestein on the other hand is a multiple-time champion in Norway...

Robin01: I suppose now it is on to rapid, then blitz, then what? They each get to throw a king at each other from 10 paces!:)

jamesmaskell: Throwing kings from ten paces could put Carlsen in a serious disadvantage being a little guy.
Sep-21-06  TheBB: Carlsen is destroying Agdestein as black in the first rapid game...
Sep-21-06  TheBB: And now he's destroying him as white too... :)
Sep-21-06  Slotermeyer: ...and Carlsen won, 2-0! Congrats MC!

Sep-21-06  BadTemper: If you were Agdestein, would you play slightly less stronger (even if it isnt necessary) to ensure that the young Carlsen wins the championship and is given a monstrous psychological boost that will benefit his entire life and career?

I certainly would.
Would Agdestein?

Sep-21-06  Xaurus: <BadTemper>I don't think the Norwegian Championship matters <that> much for young Carlsen. He said after he was crowned champion that he wasn't even sure he'd participate again in the upcoming years (I think he will, though).

alexmagnus: Well, the rating gap between him and other Norwegian players is very big, so I wouldn't be surprised if he stops playing in the NCs.
Sep-26-06  cuendillar: What about Agdestein record as the youngest ever Norwegian Champion. If I don't misremember, Carlsen was younger while playing the tournament, but older when winning the tie-break. From which standpoint is it counted?

ahmadov: <esticles: Wow, ironic that Agdestein has to play his own pupil for the national championship. Bet he's wishing he didn't teach him so much...> Isn't this something common in today's chess? Do not forget that Kramnik was Kasparov's trainee.
