artemis: <chessgames.com> what is the deal with this tournament? was it classical controls, blitz, rapid, blind fold, etc.?

Caissanist: It was classical time control (90 minutes + 40 seconds/move first 40 moves, 30 minutes + 30 seconds/move after). The official web site (Catalan language only) is at http://www.fcde.org/casino/bases.html.

Very impressive result for Dominguez, his performance rating was an estimated 2932.

chessgames.com: This tournament used the new FIDE time control, approved in Turin: start with 90 minutes, get an extra 30 minutes at time control, and add 30 second increments per move throughout.

Official site (Catalan) http://www.fcde.org/

artemis: Thank you chessgames and caissanist. I was afraid that after commenting on dominguez's games that I would find out it was a blitz tourney.

That said, I cant believe that they are cheapening chess by speeding it up even more.

artemis: my word Timman took a beating here. I clicked on timman wins and thought that there must have been an error.
