 | | thatsmate: Is it just me, or is Jakovenko playing in a lot of tournaments, and scoring pretty well in almost all of them? |
| Mar-16-07 | | Dr.Lecter: Best lucks to Onischuk. He's still in his solid form. |
| Mar-17-07 | | cannibal: Didn't Bologan already suck last year? He apparently wants to continue that streak. |
| Mar-17-07 | | Mameluk: <thatsmate> Jakovenko is surely a new top 20 player and Kamsky-like fighter, but today he is in trouble in super-sharp game against Dreev. 12. Bd3!!?? |

Can you post a link for live games? I only found one for Bologan-Rublevsky at chesspro. |

| Mar-17-07 | | cannibal: What a drama in Bologan-Rublevsky! On move 76 they reached a theoretically drawn endgame rook+bishop (for Bologan) vs rook. Rublevsky seemed to defend easily for a long time, but when the game already headed towards a 50-move-rule draw, he finally blundered. When he resigned (on move 124), white would have mated or won the rook on the next move, which would have been 49 moves after the last capture |
| Mar-17-07 | | chislanoua: Bravo, Viorel! |
| Mar-18-07 | | Dr.Lecter: Onischuk drew four rounds. He needs a win. |
| Mar-19-07 | | cannibal: Three disappointing short draws in round 5 (12, 13 and 16 moves!), wins for Bologan (without him this tournament would be a drawfest) and Jakovenko, who now leads with 3.5/5 |

 | | Resignation Trap: I wonder if a day of rest will help Bologan. Of the nine decisive games in this tournament, he was involved in five if them! Viorel does not produce many short draws, but goes gushing for a win in most instances. When he is in top form it works out well, as in Dortmund 2003: http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail... . When he's not in his best form, this strategy often backfires. |

Mar-21-07
 | | PhilFeeley: Bologan is fighting his way back. Today's game was really sharp. No boring draws for him! |
| Mar-22-07 | | Raskolnikov: Jakovenko just won against Alekseev. I think he is goint to win the tournament. |
Mar-22-07
 | | sapfy: Jakovenko right now has an unofficial rating of 2710, though he'll 'only' be 2698 on the April list. |
| Mar-22-07 | | s4life: <Resignation Trap: I wonder if a day of rest will help Bologan. Of the nine decisive games in this tournament, he was involved in five if them!> That's just things as usual.. he's a fighter! |
Mar-23-07
 | | PhilFeeley: Another win today by Bologan! He's now tied for second. Nice comeback. |
| Mar-24-07 | | Mameluk: <sapfy> I think you got something wrong. Do you count both Pamplona and Aeroflot? Then some small loss from Wijk B, still 2700+ though even not counting Poikovsky. He will play European championship, so he is probably tireless. |

| Mar-27-07 | | elLocoEvans: Nice pic that of Karpov at Poikovsky, analyzing blindfold with Sutovsky. Everybody plays that way these days ;) |
