  Softpaw: Draw!!
Apr-29-07  Scarecrow: 30. Ke4 and draw :) This was funny. Good match, too bad Leko lost.
Apr-29-07  Shajmaty: Draw!
Apr-29-07  Scarecrow: Or maybe it was drawn after 29...Ne6 and this Ke4 is the usual error in the relay

chancho: So Kramnik wins the match eh?
Apr-29-07  Kangaroo: Kramnik was merciful!!! His position is better, but ... the advantage might have been lost, and the lead belongs to him!

Congratulations!!! The score <4 1/2> to <3 1/2> is not bad. And Kramnik is not as mabitious as his competitors.

Apr-29-07  Shajmaty: <artemis>, Ke4 was never played: King to the centre equals game over.
Apr-29-07  code13: Was 30..Qf6 not completely winning for Kramnik? Did he offer a draw, having secured the match, just to be nice to his friend??

  virginmind: bravo kramnik! match won!
Apr-29-07  Shajmaty: Even after 29...Ne6 (instead of the stronger 29...Qg5), Black is winning. But The World Champion is merciful... and has won the match.
Apr-29-07  artemis: Leko-Kramnik game 8

Apr-29-07  artemis: perhaps considering the ending game, it should be more like 4.75 to 3.25 rather than 4.5-3.5
Apr-29-07  Atking: So Artemis was right the relationship between these players decided the day. Quite elegant from the world champion.
Apr-29-07  Shajmaty: <code13: Was 30..Qf6 not completely winning for Kramnik?> As <acirce> and myself have already commented, 30. Ke4 was never played!

acirce: Draw official but I don't think Ke4 was played. Typical relay thing, they usually put the kings on e4 and e5 to illustrate that the game was drawn and so Ke4 or Ke5 gets registered as a king move if legal.

Ulhumbrus: According to the official site White's thirtieth move is 30 Ke4 after which a draw is agreed.
Apr-29-07  Knight13: Really? There's only 6 games for this match?

chancho: The upcoming match with Aronian should be a doozy.
Apr-29-07  artemis: code 13: there was plenty winning for Kramnik after ... Nf4! However, a win and a draw were equivalent for him so why demoralize leko with playing it out. Just offer the draw, and Kramnik still wins the match.

Softpaw: Okay, that was a fun, wine-filled inconsequential match between friends.

  chancho: <Knight13> Eight games.
Apr-29-07  artemis: Knight13: 8 games. Cg.com does not have the scores up, but if you look on this page and then about page #16, I have posted the scores of 7 and 8.
Apr-29-07  artemis: Softpaw: not inconsequential. The Leko chess school got some publicity. that is important. Competitively inconsequential, yes, but significant in other regards.
Apr-29-07  artemis: btw: I think that I have deleted all of the posts that were only relevant to posting the moves during the games. If I missed a few sorry, but the page should be a cleaner read now.
Apr-29-07  artemis: Well, so long and thanks for all the chess.
