 | | ganso: Looks like Dominguez and Ivanchuk played a 15 move draw in round 6 or so. Dominguez earlier played an even shorter draw with Bruzon. No comprendo, given Dominguez's mediocre results in tournament. I guess he's given up and is happy with a +1 (but he shouldn't be!). |

BUT, I think he might be becoming too old to participate in big tournaments in 2-3 years. Ivanchuk, an exception, because he seems to have nervous problems or something, and maybe, just maybe, can't concentrate as much as other players. Possible explanation: Age. Hope I was clear this time around |

<If you are Vassily Ivanchuk, then you probably bitterly regret not being rated one point higher on either the July 2004 or January 2005 rating lists, because that would have been enough to move you ahead of Bacrot on the “reserve” rating list. Instead, you had to finish in the top ten at Khanty-Mansyisk (not counting Shirov or Bacrot). Since you were knocked out early, your best bet at this point is probably for either Kasimjanov, Leko, Adams, Polgar, Shirov, or Bacrot to go on paternity/maternity leave and withdraw from the matches, in which case you would take their place based on your rating (as long as Kasparov and Kramnik do both decline to play).> |

V.Gashimov is pretty strong GM, a bit unstable sometimes, but far more talented than Miton, Dominguez or Bruzon. |
