Jun-02-07		Maxim Dlugy: Black does have the passed "a" pawn..but the Knight is very strong and Black's pawn structure is seriously weakened. Bareev will have to missplay this for Judith to have a chance.

Leko's lifetime score with Bareev is actually tied 3-3 in classical games. He's 4-0 in rapid play, though, so I guess all Leko has to do is tie the match and then win in rapid.

He's 4-0 in rapid play, though, so I guess all Leko has to do is tie the match and then win in rapid.> It's rather 4-3 in classical and 3-0 in rapid (draws not counting), unless I'm mistaken, but none of that says much anyway. Their last decisive game in classical is from 2002, which doesn't mean that they mostly draw - most of their games are decisive - it just means they haven't played much in recent years. So what matters is that L�k� is currently the better player. Noteworthy is that now L�k� has got two more rest days, and he is typically in good physical shape anyway. Meanwhile, you get a feeling Bareev has already started to tire. I'm rooting for L�k�, but wouldn't really mind it if Bareev pulled it off somehow, which I'm not ruling out.

Jun-02-07		Gypsy: Well, someone already said it: Leko-Bareev is going to be a festival of subtle chess. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I for one am looking forward to their games.

Jun-02-07		KamikazeAttack: Bareev's hey day was back in the early 90s. He went thru a slump only to come back recently. It is a credit to his longevity to still be a top player today.

Jun-02-07		flamboyant: I'm a bit disappointed, I was cheering for Polgar, she's by far my favorite player, but she still have some trouble against the best positionnal players (particularly Kramnick)

Jun-02-07		notyetagm: Too bad Judit never played the KID in this match. She lost badly twice when she played the Queen's Indian and could not have done worse playing the KID. I am really disappointed that she avoided the KID in the final game. Better to go down with both guns blazing than with a wimper.

Jun-02-07		twinlark: An incredibly disappointing match from the point of view of Polgar supporters. Not so much that she lost, but the way she lost. It took 5 games before she looked remotely like the Polgar everyone knew. Quite frankly, for most of the match she didn't seem to even be playing at grandmaster standard. She is going to have to seriously reassess her future, as her days of being a World Championship contender look to be well and truly over.
