Aug-10-07    Peligroso Patzer: Jacob Aagaard (playing Black) has just won his game against Glenn Flear. Together with Stephen Gordon's draw against Tony Kosten, today's win gives Aagaard sole possession of first place (with 8.5/11) in the final standings of the British Championships. Aagaard achieved his 8.5 points with a phenomenal 91% rate of decisive games (comprising +8-2=1). Aug-10-07    Tomlinsky: I've thoroughly enjoyed following this years British Championship. Some very entertaining play with games such as aagaards last being very instructional imo. So he may technically still be an IM, but will soon (once required bureaucratic processing has been completed) officially be a GM. Aug-11-07    Ezzy: Great championship. Congratulations to Jacob Aagaard. The mixed fortunes of a chessplayer. Jacob wins the British championship and claims his GM title (he must be ecstatic). And on the other side of the coin, Stephen Gordon needed a win in the last round for a 'play off' for the championship and also attain a GM norm. He drew and achieved neither. It was a great performance by him, but he will be bitterly disappointed to miss a win in this last game.
