Dec-30-07		Peligroso Patzer: <Jim Bartle: I'm no expert, but it sure looks as if Inarkiev did a huge favor for Morozevich by voluntarily opening the g and h files.> That was my impression also, but I guess he did not like having his Rook tied down defending the h-pawn. Although it only served to let the second White Rook into Black's position (with swift and devastating consequences), 47. ... h4 probably appealed to Inarkiev because it eliminated a weak pawn and freed his Rook. By move 47, Inarkiev was almost certainly lost whatever he played.

Dec-30-07		Scarecrow: 8/11, the player with the fewest draws and most wins, a very impressive performance by Morozevich! I'm sure this will boost his rating a bit as well. Very nice new additions to chess theory in the exchange Slav also. Clear 2nd place for Grischuk and clear 3rd for Tomashevsky. Svidler's -1 performance against this field is embarrassing.

Korbut, Tairova, Ovad and Tatinia Kosintseva are all tied up at 7-4! :^) Unless of course some other tiebreak system is being used to sort all this out... ;)

Dec-30-07		Eyal: And with a very impressive finish as well � serves me right, I guess, for saying earlier that Moro seems to be playing for a draw... coming back now to see how the games have turned out after leaving before, I'm still trying to figure out what started Inarkiev's downfall in the game.
