Jan-27-08  progrock64: @virginmind
isn`t 49.Qxb7 better in the 1st variant?
Jan-27-08  Veryrusty: <Reisswolf: Why do so many people think Anand stands better here?> Vulnerable Black king, loose Black rook.
Jan-27-08  ounos: <arsen387> after a Mashall attack they went quickly into an endgame with Aronian winning somewhere a pawn, but Polgar draw quite easily anyway.
Jan-27-08  znprdx: so is there a playoff for first?

ketchuplover: Aronian was a Ruy Lopez. Rook pawn endgame. Aronian had an extra pawn but still draw.
Jan-27-08  lmreith: +0.8 despite beeing a pawn down sounds very good already!
Jan-27-08  Mameluk: <znprdx> Penalties.

Jan-27-08  adair10: <znprdx: so is there a playoff for first?>

Wouldn't that be nice? But no, all +3 players will be declared equal co-winners

Jan-27-08  cannibal: If Fritz is to be trusted, Anand's next moves are so obvious, while Kramnik's are very hard to find. Doesn't look good for black.

Jan-27-08  pankajdaga: If Kramnik looses this, it would be crazy... He would have lost to the youngest participant yesterday and the oldest one today!

Jan-27-08  Veryrusty: In his press conference after beating Carlsen by surviving Carlsen's ferocious attack, and in the context of whether certain positions were winning or salvageable, Anand genially said something along the lines of, "Chess is also a practical game." I suspect that any of us playing blitz skittles and coming upon the Anand-Kramnik Move 48 position would eagerly jump into the White seat, engines be damned.

The oldest participant is Gelfand.
Jan-27-08  pankajdaga: <Why not 48. Rf1+ from Anand, cant understand his moves today !!!> You can understand his moves on other days? ;)
Jan-27-08  Thursday: <cannibal> You admit that Anand is the oldest Indian participant named Anand though, right?
Jan-27-08  cannibal: <Thursday> Can't argue with that ;-)
Jan-27-08  slomarko: <You admit that Anand is the oldest Indian participant named Anand though, right?> nope my grandmother is called Anand too, she plays in Corus D
