Jan-06-08  ahmadov: <malthrope: <ahmadov> Gashimov-Almasi> Thanks indeed! From the position above I can say Vugar is winning :-) (maybe this is a wishful thinking, but I hope this will happen...)
Jan-06-08  malthrope: No, it's drawn after 15. Ne4 ~lol~ Oh well... ;)

brankat: Gashimov-Almasi a Draw in 15 moves. Very disappointing. Not to mention that this costs me a ton of Chessbucks :-)

Of course, the position after <14...0-0> doesn't really give White much chance to play for a win, but still this kind of an attitude/approach doesn't win tournaments.

Jan-06-08  ahmadov: <malthrope: No, it's drawn after 15. Ne4 ~lol~ Oh well... ;) > I was so happy to see the position I did not read your post completely :-)

Anyway, that is a bit depressing (I mean the draw, not the fact that I did not read the post :-) )...

Jan-06-08  malthrope: I know <brankat> - I'm dissapointed too! :-( Now 'Hua-Marin' and 'Harikrishna-Landu' are crucial with Hua, Hari and/or Landu all of whom can still catch Gashimov! So, Almasi wins clear 1st in any case! Good for him (bye-bye chessbucks)... ~lol~ I took the underdog Vugar too (at 11:2 odds a good bet). ;)

brankat: <malthrope> Yes, I did the same. 100 bucks :-)

Yes, that makes three of us! ~lol~

Jako won the first game vs. Inarkiev... 2nd Rapids Game will be starting shortly! :)

$137 here - I was clearly over optimistic! ~lol~ Getting killed in the - 83rd Hastings Chess Congress (2008) - can pick any result right! :-(

brankat: <malthrope> I did surprisingly well with my first Hastings bet yesterday. Betting (only) $20.00 on Eames as Black (ELO just over 2300) to beat GM Georgiev. The odds 22 - 1 :-)

Today I placed $50 on G.Jones.

  brankat: <malthrope> <*can't* rather...> Figured as much :-)
Jan-06-08  malthrope: <brankat> - Eames is a giant killer! Who knew? :) Jones has never beat Pert before (2 losses and 1 draw)... So, I'm trying a small bet on Pert! Hope one us wins and it's not a bloody draw! ;)

  Stonehenge: <Hope it's not a bloody draw>. I actually hope it's a bloody draw, not a boring one.
Jan-06-08  Karpova: Harikrishna-Landa 1-0
Jan-06-08  malthrope: Harikrishna just beat Landu... Hua looks to beat Marin.

...And, 'Ivanchuk vs. Radjabov' will be starting very shortly (Jako beat Inarkiev 1- to advance).

Jan-06-08  malthrope: Chuky-Radja the 2nd game was a draw (BOOC ending)... Blitz is next - don't blink! ;)
Jan-06-08  slomarko: malthrope this is the Torneo di Capodanno page.
Jan-06-08  malthrope: <slomarko: malthrope this is the Torneo di Capodanno page.>

Oh you can *read* too how nice! ;)

Jan-06-08  geeker: I'm OK with malthrope posting ACP Rapid comments here; that event has no dedicated page. ;-)
Jan-06-08  slomarko: well why don't you ask CG to make a page about that particular event? i'm sure they will grant it.
Jan-06-08  malthrope: Korchnoi-Tiviakov - draw!

By the time CG.com makes a link to the ACP Rapids event it will be over...
