| Oct-04-08 | | AnotherNN: They still can't handle Chinese names. Most of the surnames are missing and where such may be given, it's stated backwards. For Chinese, the surname is given first. |
 |
| Oct-04-08 | | Ladolcevita: Yes,Li chao,Zhao xue,Bu xiangzhi,Wangyue,and then is Xu yuhua,not Yu huaxu. I'm chinese,if any questions there,i would love to help. |
 |
| Oct-04-08 | | Ladolcevita: BTW£¬the 1st world mind sports game just opened last night in Beijing(beijing clock).
And in today's chess court, the rapids games finished with the semifinal draws.
Women:
HouYifan--Stefanova
ZhaoXue--Kosteniuk
In the group stage(swiss),
1.HouYifan 9.5/11,wherein she beat Crowned Kosteniuk in the 6th round, with 89 moves, and only lost to XuYuhua in the10th round, drawed with JuWenjun in the 7th round.
2.Kosteniuk8.5/11
the current world champion only lost to HouYifan and Zhaoxue, and drawed with Krush.Still keeps in a fine form.
3.ZhaoXue7.5/11 4.Stefanova7.5/11(another 7.5 score,HuangQian was somehow in fifth place,so had to say byebye)
BTW,Stefanova beat Zhaoxue in the last round to finally make her qualification. Men:
i dont know their english names(so i will write down the similar pronunciations)...
First one is Paraguay?8.5/11,from Philippines.
Second-Fouth place.8/11
Banicas(Greece)
Kravzv(Ukraine)
Derotzdofusky(Ukraine)
And very disappointing,Chinese Men failed on the whole.Among them,WangYue,Buxiangzhi scored4.5/7,but the last four rounds,WangYue was all defeated, and Buxiangzhi managed to get one victory only,so both of them was knocked out.And WangHao won the last three rounds, but previously performed badly,NiHua didnt draw for once, but lost too much....So they are all out. And tomorrow would be the semifinals and finals for rapid games. |
 |
| Oct-04-08 | | Ladolcevita: Sorry,its Blitz,not rapids.....
very very sorry...
Kosteniuk said in the interview:
Blitz is my favourite style,i feel satisfied to enter the semifinal.
talking about her loss agains HouYifan, she said:
Blitz is very unpredictable. In classical game, you may be scrupulous at most time, but lose for only one error in the ending, but blitz is different, the winning side could lose, and the losing side could win.
And as for the loss against ZhaoXue,she said she was a bit tired at the moment, thus making a mistake.
But finally she concluded that she felt very satisfied for semi final entry. |

Stefanova Vs Kosteniuk
two World Champions |
 |
| Oct-05-08 | | Ladolcevita: Final Result for Blitz.
Women:
Gold Kosteniuk, again proves how strong the current world champion is,and it seems as if no one could eliminate her in a knock-out game.
Silver Stefanova, the former world champion is competitive in every encouter.Though she won the first game again Kosteniuk, but lost the second, and the"sudden death".
Bronze HouYifan
Perhaps still too young, and not that experienced, but beating ZhaoXue with two victories in row, still shows her outstanding ability.Men:
Kravtsiv from Ukrain is the champion, while his compatriot Yuri ranked second, and the bronze medal finally went to Banikas of Greece. In the subconsequent interview,HouYifan said she was satisfied with the results, and would continue her endeaver in the later games, but another chinese ZhaoXue seemed very frustrated, and repeated"i'm really not content with my performance, its really really bad".
She must have learnt a lot of ambition in Beijing University, since she commenced her study together with her chess career. But,ZhaoXue,sometimes a pure concentration is more effective.See you are just falling all the time during these years. |

 | | percyblakeney: Ecuador winning a team event in chess sure is a fun surprise, their highest rated player is 2525 and number 2 is 2439. Otherwise it sounds like one more of these Armageddon disasters that have become so common recently. Sasikiran won according to the Arbiter, and the Appeals Committee confirmed his decision but still ordered a replay of the game: http://www.fide.com/component/conte... |
 |
| Oct-09-08 | | Ladolcevita: Yeah, because its not the classical game,so many ratings cant pertain to the practical phase. But i think its good, the people of Ecuador must be very happy. |

 | | percyblakeney: <because its not the classical game,so many ratings cant pertain to the practical phase> True, still surprising that Ecuador's on average more than 200 points lower rated players could beat China and some other quite strong teams. The (first) decisive Armageddon game in the final against India ended in this position: click for larger viewIt's Sasikiran's (white) move and he has to win but the position is an obvious draw. Here Matamoros accidentally swept a piece off the board. According to the tournament rules he wasn't allowed to replace the piece on the board on the opponent's time, so Sasikiran was given the win by the Arbiter. This decision was confirmed by the Appeal's Committee, but the game was replayed anyway and this time Matamoros won. http://reports.chessdom.com/ecuador... http://www.2008wmsg.org/en/news/200... |
