Congratulations to Nigel Short for his commanding performance. Nigel finished on 9.5/11, a half point ahead of second place finisher GM S Arun Prasad.

waustad: The amazing thing about the tournament is how many local amateurs, mostly from the same club MS played. While many of the games from these unrated people, with ages ranging from 7 on up, are not top flight or even good chess, I'm sure it was a great experience for them. The gender mix was as close to 50-50 as I've ever seen except in a M v F set up match. There really isn't much point dissing the play of a 9 year old.
May-19-09  YoungEd: It's a shame that Short didn't have to play Itkelwar.
