Jan-16-09  Bent Bexley: <YouRang> Thank you. Oh, well. I'll just have to go to bed earlier.

<messachess> I normally play the Advance and Panov against the CK. I play the French as Black. I started doing so in part because I hated facing it as White. ;-) As for the Benoni, well, it does translate into English as "son of sorrow." So...

Actually, I think the Czech Benoni is better then its reputation. A bit cramped but certainly playble.

YouRang: <... like Linares (6:00a PST for games in Spain) ... >

Information tidbit: I was just looking for the <player list> for Linares 2009, and I discovered that this year the entire tournament will be played in Linares, Spain (not split between Morelia, Mx and Spain as in recent years). However, in 2010, it will again be divided between Mexico and Spain.

BTW, the players for Linares 2009 will be:

Viswanathan Anand
Magnus Carlsen
Vassily Ivanchuk
Levon Aronian
Teimour Radjabov
Wang Yue
Alexander Grischuk
Lenier Dominguez

(A subset of Corus 2009, except for Grischuk. This is often the case, but I wish they would go for a bit more variety, e.g. Topalov, Jakovenko, Kramnik, Shirov...)

Jan-16-09  messachess: <Bent Bexley> I have trouble with all those openings. The French drives me crazy. The Benoni I tend to fall into because I don't play d5 (e6 and c5.)

I have to wonder why we don't see the French more at tournaments like this.

Quoi? Zut alors, mon petite cochon, ce n'est pas vrai. Es-tu Chauvin, peut-etre?

jessicafischerqueen: <kramputz> if English is the language of this forum, what are you doing with a <Yiddish> user name?

Seems a little ironic.

Putz.

Jan-16-09  messachess: Hello <jessicafischerqueen> Do you have any help against the French in French?--not that it would do me any good. It couldn't hurt.
Jan-16-09  messachess: We could have warned <kramputz> Now he's a Putz. Ouch!

jessicafischerqueen: Hi <messachess> nice to see you again.

heh-- I have trouble with the <French> also- not to mention the <Petrov>.

One of the reasons I switched to <1.c4> since last August.

<User:Domdaniel> is an expert in the <French Defence>, and his forum is a great place for such inquiries.

In fact, his forum is actually called <Frogspawn>.

heh

Bon chance, mon ami!!

Oh yes and re: <Kramputz>. I thought maybe he was saying that <GM Kramnik> is a <putz>.

Then I thought that was probably too clever. Of course, I don't know who he really is. He might be Stephen Hawking for all I know.

I believe Sir Stephen speaks English, but that may be too broad a clue.

Jan-16-09  messachess: <jessicafischerqueen> re: the Petrov. I go for complete nuttiness: 3.NC4, followed (depending) by 4.g3 and just feel my way on from there. I am not recommending this. It's different. It's what I try. It's fun.

Jan-16-09  kramputz: <messachess: Ease up <kramputz>--You can have strong opinions here, but keep you racially-tinged comments confined to yourself (and hopefully out of hearing of your children if you have any.)> Te egy nagyon buta es utalatos ember vagy. Csak irjal angolul es fogd be a nagyon piszkos pofadat.

Jan-16-09  ILikeFruits: what does...

Jan-16-09  Kaspykov: jessicafischerqueen isnt good at french, shes probably using a translator because

"Ton point est son ton tete. Incroyable! "

make no sense at all. :P

moi je peux bien parler francais parce que cest ma langue maternelle tu catch baby.

1. d4 then no problem for the petrov and no problem for the french since you can play 2. c4 ...

by the way Radjabov will win tomorrow :)

Nice catch, thanks!

Noice also the guy between L'Ami and Muhren is actually Jan Werle and not Daniel Stellwagen as Chessbase says. They misdescribe photos quite frequently.
