Jul-10-09  DCP23: <HFBA> Ho-ho-ho! Oh, yes... Underestimating Kramnik cost many top players dearly already. But they never learn.

acirce: Very well done. It was anything but obvious why ..Qc7 lost.
Jul-10-09  newton296: this game is a reminder that kramnik and anand are still the top guys .

kramnik just took carlsen into the jungle with the pawn sac f5! and the sweet Rd6! I bet carlsen couldnt find his way out now even if you gave him a compass . he is in the jungle for good !

Jul-10-09  KKDEREK: Still, great finish by Kramnik, He will probably take over Dortmund
Jul-10-09  Magnusch: Playchess has 36.axb4 as the last move. Could that be correct? I think 36.Be6+ and then mate in two!? Why didn't Kramnik play that??
Jul-10-09  newton296: carlsen resigned
Jul-10-09  siamesedream: Leko - Naiditsch 1/2.

I suppose that all losses are due to some 'bad' move. But Carlsen's bad move certainly wasn't an easy move to calculate. The point is, Kramnik gained a very aggressive position which gave Carlsen excellent opportunities to miscalculate. He finally did, and Kramnik seized the moment sharply.

That's a brilliant attack. :-)

Jul-10-09  Dionyseus: <acirce> <Very well done. It was anything but obvious why ..Qc7 lost. >

Should be obvious for a player near 2800. With 25...Qc5 white doesn't have anything, black can shuffle his king from f8 to g8 with no problems because if the white knight tries anything the black queen can capture the bishop.

Jul-10-09  returnoftheking: The previous game Carlsen lost was also in a similar sharp position and by Queen moves to c7.
Jul-10-09  Gambitor: It seems that after 25.Rd6 the only move was 25...Qc5, which leads to a draw.
