Junior totally disregards material and produces a stunning attack. Most computers will see a big plus for white during the game, until it takes a while to see that black's attack is unstoppable.  | | HeMateMe: One think I really like about these computer tournaments is that there are not nearly so many draws as in human tournaments. The 'Bots seem to be able to find the 'truth' in a position and ram an advantage home. |

| Jul-07-09 | | timhortons: <The only human that has beaten rybka "headsup" has been nakamura> at icc game not only naka beat rybka heads up,carlsen did it too,GM rustemov did it too, bassim amin did it too and a lot more GM but only nakas game really satisfy human senses because he mate rybka with 6 bishop, 8 knights and with countless other antics and style. oh yay, in blitz at icc you mean? and mind you since transwarp upgraded to rybka 3 ,naka only win once after lossing hundreds of game. im a big nakamura fan and a very satisfied rybka costumer, lets not confuse things here. rybka team is challenging naka to a game, in standard time control but naka did not answer it. |

A computer program does not have to deal with all the things that make us human. Thus, "their" (the programmer's) success is not as impressive or relevant. Great educational tools, though. |

- No engine lost to any engine that finished below it. - Shredder was the only engine to not lose to any of the engines that finished above it (i.e. it finished 3rd and managed to draw its 2 games against the engines above). - Pandix was the only engine to not win against any of the engines that finished below it (i.e. in finished 9th and was only able to draw its 1 game against the engine below). - HIARCS and Jonny won every game against the engines that finished below them (and had, of course, no other wins). - All in all, the combined record of engines playing against other engines that finished lower was +33 -0 =12, or 86.7%. So, it seems that engine/computer strength is nearly deterministic of the game outcome -- certainly more so than we see in human chess. To be expected, I suppose. |

| Aug-01-09 | | The Rocket: we know that Rybka is the best but I always assumed that the engines below Rybka, Shredder, Junior, could really end up anywere and that the results between the computers are purely random am I wrong?. If I understand it correctly the engines are all having the same proccesors in this championship to make it fair, so this should mean that the outcome between the engines around the same elo are purely random?. |
