Aug-24-09  ILikeFruits: second hooray...
Aug-24-09  randzo: Ok so i checked it and Ok iam fan of Kramnik and we must understand that this was Rapid event so mistakes are more often.Kramnik was olso losing in 2 of his games against Hug and Ponomariov but he holds and showed very nice endgame technique against Khalifman and Topalov. Then he won a miniature against Karpov. He tried intersting opening experiment by Scandinavian 3.Qd6 He get 2 draws so it was quite succesful.so with even some luck +3.Karpov,Hug and Polgar were outsiders but their performance wasnt shame 2.5 in this field is Ok.
Aug-24-09  WhiteRook48: good to see Karpov not in last place
BOO ANAND!
Aug-24-09  wolfmaster: Why is Werner Hug in this tournament of top 10s?
Aug-24-09  me to play: Hug was no doubt added to give the locals a rooting interest.

HeMateMe: C'mon, give him a hug!

As much a fan as I am of Judit Polgar, at this point, she might only be in FIDEs top 40 or 50, not sure if she should be in this group. I just don't like to see good players who are out of form, due to lack of playing, to get embarrassed.

Aug-24-09  itsankush: Go Anand Go!!!
Aug-25-09  VaselineTopLove: Is Chessgames planning to put up the games from the simul?
Aug-25-09  sheaf: 7 matches in a day !!..that must be exhausting...

Kramnik is a very strong rapid player, but things really did go his way here. Hug missed a simple win, Pono missed many, while Khalifman and Topalov missed draws in the endgame and Karpov blundered in the opening. But such things do happen often in rapid.

Look again, Karpov finished last (even if only on SB tiebreak...).

SetNoEscapeOn: I haven't seen the simul games posted anywhere, so I wonder if the score sheets were ever collected.

cu8sfan: <Civhai: Has anyone been there except me?> I was at the simul but not at the rapid games.

<SetNoEscapeOn: I haven't seen the simul games posted anywhere, so I wonder if the score sheets were ever collected.> They were not collected but the top two boards were published. I sent them to cg.com and reckon they take longer because lots of players need to be opened first in the database.

HeMateMe: Thanks Cubster, cool vid. I'm gonna speak to the Steinbrenner boys, and see if they will loan the Cubs A-Rod for one season, so your Cubbies might make the Series!

Did you see the crowd he draws? A retired chess player? Kaspy still has real star power, most impressive. It's no wonder Obama met with him on his Moscow visit.
