If they wanted a punching ball they could have just given a bye to each player and invite Maya Ch. or Pia C. instead. At least that would have given the tournament some class. What we have now is a more or less inevitable Chinese player fighting for first place with Sebag and Dzagnidze - both fine players but hardly candidates for first place in a serious event. There she won five games, against among others Cramling and Chiburdanidze, and finished ahead of the latter and Stefanova.
