| HeMateMe: Only one decisive game, a bit too quiet. I always hope the GMs have worked out at least one or two TNs for each tournament, something new to spring on people, at these high profile events. Hopefully, that would represent a full point. |

| returnoftheking: Quite a good performance for Giri when you consider this is his first tournament on this level. He didn't strain himself and appears to have made the smallest number of moves during the tournament as well. Another young player doing well, it's only a matter of time now before the high priest of Carlsen will start working on this new "threat";) |

No Kings Indian or Grunfeld, and the only sicilian played is the one game that wasn't drawn.
I haven't looked at many games but maybe the players were not too ambitious in the openings. Then it's hard to win if you are roughly equal in playing strength. |

It's just the format and the players.
Here we had
1 inexperienced new player, prolly happy to draw against the big boys
2 someone who has been somewhat out of the running trying for a cautious comeback
3 strong player who is unfortunately something of a draw master
4 one GM that plays so often that you just cannot expect him to play his A game all the time. Throw in an Aronian, Topalov or Carlsen and you'd get an entirely different tournament. |

They are not trying to make a profit, ande some draws resulting in less media attention won't bother them too much, I hope. |
