Oct-23-09   DCP23: <frogbert: that's because jakovenko never has proven to be a 2750+ player, dcp23. like i've argued before.>

Ultimately, there's only one reliable way to test him: just wait and see how he fares in the long run. So we'll have to do that I guess ;)

Oct-23-09   DCP23: <Natalia Pogonina> Thanks for the pic, please post more.
Oct-23-09   walker: Actually there is one Variation of the Dutch defence named after Korchnoi (2.h5) http://www.365chess.com/opening.php...
Oct-23-09   ArmeniaNL: it is completely not fair to put russia in the first board in live broadcast, why are they there, in round two they do not deserve to be broadcasted, s

Oct-23-09   siamesedream: http://chessbomb.com/ is broadcasting few games with Rybka analysis.

Thank you very much, Natalia, nice picture. Evidently, Volokitin seems to be thinking: So much preparation for that.......

virginmind: istratescu(2624) with black is holding well against aronian, it might be a draw.

Oct-23-09   muradov: Looks like Radjabov is slowly outplaying Mikey..
Oct-23-09   jamesmaskell: Moments like the one in the Volokitin picture are well worth preparing sidelines for. We all like a mind screw...

England-Azerbaijan, not an easy pairing even with the best possible England team. Not expecting a lot. Lets not forget this Azerbaijan team went through training against the Russians not too long ago. They will be treating this very seriously.

Oct-23-09   Mameluk: Laznicka was 5 seconds late.

virginmind: horrible time management for nevednichy against sargissian, 5 min left for 18 moves...
Oct-23-09   slomarko: <Mameluk: Laznicka was 5 seconds late.> Jesus, these FIDE bureaucrats are really.. well i don't even have a word. this rule is completely crazy.

virginmind: oops, and its not like the hotels the players stay in are right near the playing venue, they are at 2,3 and 4 km far away respectively. and the new fide regulation provides that you are not allowed to be late one single second from start of game?? thats crazy.

Babar47: The rule might be enforced harshly, but seriously, competing in a tournament of that level, how hard can it be to be on time for the match????
