achieve: Carlsen was easily winning and miscalculated in timetrouble; this surprised me, as I did not see any reason to let the a-pawn run while up a pawn... Naka off the hook, Carlsen on the hook for a change...
Nov-28-09  returnoftheking: < Naka off the hook, Carlsen on the hook for a change> Black (MC) looks winning to me.
Nov-28-09  siamesedream: Nakamura - Carlsen 2-1.

dx9293: Magnus simply crushed Hikaru in Game 1, the other two games have been very entertaining!
Nov-28-09  returnoftheking: Jim, in that case I don't think Nak would win a single game.

Thanks <siamese>

Nov-28-09  siamesedream: Standings:

1. Nakamura
2. Carlsen
3. Nielsen
4. Berg

Nov-28-09  watermate: Naka has done it!
Nov-28-09  Atking: Nakamura just won the match vs Carlsen
Nov-28-09  Jim Bartle: I'm sure this won't heat up discussion on any player pages...
Nov-28-09  baseballplayer: Surprised to see Nakamura beat Carlsen.
Nov-28-09  supertimchan: Not very surprising. Nakamura has always been the the best blitz player and has beaten Carlsen many times on ICC......

dx9293: Wow. Wow. Wow. Who else could win three consecutive blitz games against Carlsen besides maybe his trainer?!
Nov-28-09  turbo231: I told everybody that Naka has a quick mind. He beat Rybka, and Crafty! You can go to youtube and watch him beat Rybka. He made Rybka look foolish.
Nov-28-09  The Rocket: nakamura was lost in 2 of his games vs carlsen.. now thats suprising!

even more so that carlsen manages to lose that knight endgame a pawn up.. but perhaps they had seconds left by that point.

Nov-28-09  The Rocket: "I told everybody that Naka has a quick mind. He beat Rybka, and Crafty!"

LOL crafty? I mated crafty in a 5min blitz game as black!,

and drawn it twice in 1min bullet games..

the icc version of crafty you get for free that is... I dont now know the estimated elo on it?

Nov-28-09  metatron2: <ICC king Naka showed his class>

Indeed, he proved he is not just an internet blitz "mouser", but a really great blitz player.

I hope he'll (finally) participate in the next blitz WC, show us if he can really handle the elite over a long series of blitz games.

Nov-28-09  Atking: <The Rocket: nakamura was lost in 2 of his games vs carlsen..> That's true but Nakamura keeping confidence and fighting spirit has my praise.

Of course that's blitz and the lucky part is of value, but even with a little luck only few players can do what Nakamura did here.

I'm with <zarg> here congratulate Nakamura is showing respect to Carlsen too and sportsmanship.

MrMelad: Congratulations Nakamura for winning against Magnus! A great achievement for him although the quality of games was very low, Carlsen showed a very bad technique dropping his big advantages time and again. Carlsen will be eating himself up for missing so many winning moves...

Are you saying the first half of the game is more important than the second half?
