It does seem a bit unfair that TPR is the only factor that decides who makes the playoff when some players (Gustafsson) had 6 whites out of 10 games while others (Kamsky) had only 4. |

But to answer your question, most chess players out of the top100 barely make minimum wage when all is said and done. They also make most of their money from teaching and not prize money or appearance fees. |

Looking through the player lists in the other sections, one sees a lot of last names of players in the pro section. Ana Cramling Bellon even got a win. I think she's 7. I also see several Norwegians named Carlsen and Agdestein. Last year they had a lot of pictures of parents with their kids there. It sounds like a nice way to spend a week during the Winter. |

His "live" FIDE rating should be about 2601 now (2560 + 18 over three already rated events, +10 more from the Golden State Open which hasn't been rated yet, +13.3 from Gibraltar). When is FIDE finally going to give him his GM title? |
