waustad: I'm glad to see this. There have been years when the games weren't available for over a month after the tourney was over.

Jun-18-10  malthrope: <virginmind: what took you so long, cg? short-nepomniachtchi should be fun today.>

<virginmind> - I had to remind them! ~lol~

Even then it still took them 2 more days to get this Capa tourney link up and running... ;)

Good to see <e4ia> posting the good stuff (correct tourney links). :) Which can also be found in my <Current Chess Events> calendar published monthly in my Profile. Here's one more the official 'Capablanca Memorial' federation website: http://www.capablanca.co.cu/

Enjoy! :^)

Jun-18-10  percyblakeney: It has been amazingly hard for Dominguez to win games the last year and a half. After Corus 2009 he seems to have no less than 51 draws in 60 classical games, the only win this year coming against Tiviakov, and in non-classical he scored in all +0 -13 =13 in Amber plus Leon 2010.

notyetagm: Ian Nepomniachtchi is now +2, so does that mean he has has broken 2700? His current rating is 2695.

I read a recent interview from him, it was in the "Diario de León" (when he came to play the last tournament here), and he said that he was lacking confidence and, specially, funding to have a trainer.

He spoke about how he had been chosen "Best Cuban Sportman" 3 years in a row but still he couldn´t afford to travel with a trainer (unlike a lot of not-so-famous Cuban athletes); ´tho he was very proud of all his "Communists" friends who could analyze lines for him, he still felt that he lacks direct support from someone who acts as personal manager/trainer.

Which, aside from being an excuse, has a sad background.

e4ia: Chuky seems to be starting to light up Bruzon like a cheap cigar, at his black 22 anyway; maybe a tad ?

but I predict a draw that game.

Jun-20-10  percyblakeney: In two of the three latest Capablanca Memorials Bruzon didn't turn up for the last round, maybe he will this time.

Now 40.Rf3 was very strong _Stockfish - Maybe Nigel will still win with his own sequence ...

Jun-20-10  Kaspablanca: Bruzon is playing in the elite group because he is Cubanm he should be playing in the premier group.
Jun-22-10  JonathanJ: <notyetagm> you give that answer yourself, on the site you link to nepo is at 2706

kingfu: The French was one win, no draws. Interesting that the deciding game of the tournament was Ivanchuk winning on the black side of a Caro-Kann.

Where's Karpov?

Jul-13-10  Manuel G. Vergara: Its good Ivanchuk did'nt retire after all!
