Tabanus: Prediction for this rapid event:

Saturday 28 Aug.:
Polgar - Carlsen 0-1
Carlsen - Hammer 1-0
Anand - Carlsen 1/2

Sunday 29 Aug.:
Carlsen - Polgar 1-0
Hammer - Carlsen 1/2
Carlsen - Anand 1-0

And on Monday Carlsen defeats Anand in the final :)

The games will be relayed on ICC and probably several other places, including the official site which I'm not sure where is but perhaps here: http://ksk.no/2010ChessStars.shtml or here http://nrk.no/nyheter/distrikt/more...

Shams: I think Anand must still be considered the favorite in any rapid event, until dethroned.

wordfunph: Magnus will win this one, go Magnus!
Aug-27-10  yalie: Finals will be Anand Carlsen. Beyond that it is hard to predict the winner. Carlsen looked very shaky in the openings in Bazna (despite winning) so Anand will likely win the opening battle. If Anand is rusty OTB, Carlsen will cream him.

HeMateMe: How time flies. Not so long ago, Anand played a friendly, short match against Carlsen. MC was what, 12-13 years old at the time? Now, it is cut throat, to take the chess crown and become a millionaire.

hm...? that must have escaped me somehow...

You gotta give Polgar a little more credit then that.

I was too fast, as too often... The games of all four of them will be highly interesting.

Tabanus: And then click the red circle.

It's Norway's first attempt at this kind of chess coverage, please be patient ;)

Aug-28-10  goodevans: Kristiansund, not to be confused with the much larger Kristiansand, is a remote town in Northern Norway.

I have visited there three times on business and, apart from one restaurant that does a marvelous reindeer steak, I found it a fairly unremarkable place. Quite pleasant, but a surprising venue to attract such big names. It isn't even close to Carlsen's current residence in Southern Norway.

Anyone attending in person will have an enjoyable flight over the mountains from Oslo in a small turbo-prop plane. The views, particularly around sunset, are quite outstanding.

rogge: Most famous <Kristianunder>: Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

<goodevans>, you've visited there three times more than me, and you know what you're talking about. But I think Mid-Norway or even Western Norway (Nordvestlandet) would be more precise.

2 minutes to go, and the live-coverage is still up ;)

virginmind: carlsen thought a lot before 20...Be7, he has 2 min left, polgar 10.

virginmind: polgar erred with 24.b4 (fritz) and now carlsen quickly found 24...f6 (-1.73) - somehow the clocks are now 5 min-7 min
